| Posted: | | | | Please can everyone either agree to ask Ken to make a Rules change or (and in the meantime) STOP using the Voice checkbox for non-animated features where the actor only provide the voice, as the Rules state quite clearly:
"For animated films, use the "Voice" checkbox." | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | It is a rule change needed IMO.
If anything it is required more for non animated films, since an animated film all of the actors would obviously be voice only actors. |

| Posted: | | | | IMO, if it says "Voice of [character name]" in the actual role name, checking the (voice) box shouldn't be necessary. (It usually says this when it's not an animated feature.) |

Thanks, I missed that thread... personally I think it's the best way to do it too but the Rules need to change ASAP or it just gets confusing for new users. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

But at the same time, I believe you were in on that particular discussion and as I have said before I won't argue with Ken or pretend to tell him what to do. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | I think I was the one whose contribution (794043554926) started this debate, and it's since been declined. However, I am now totally confused.
The role name for Alan Howard is currently "the Ring (voice)" and also has the voice checkbox checked, so in the profile it looks like: "the Ring (voice) (voice)"
I changed it to "Voice of the Ring" as per the end credits and didn't touch the voice box, so it looked like "Voice of the Ring (voice)" and I thought this was right.
Could someone let me know what it's supposed to be? |

| Posted: | | | | Personally I think if the credit is "Voice of ..." then there is no need for a 'voice' checkbox (and FWIW similarly "Narrator" does not need one as that's what a Narrator does!) and if they are credited as just the name (when they are actually the voice) then use 'voce' as per Ken's stated preference.
However, until a clear Rule change I will not (and haven't as I've seen quite a few) No vote anyone who uses the checkbox for these even though I don't think it's necessary. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | What about (singing voice) like in The Prince of Egypt? Should we change these roles to "... :Singing (voice)" or to "Singing: ... (voice)"? The reason why I ask this, is because this role together with (puppeteer) looks weird with the translations of "voice" and "uncredited". So I decided not to translate them... | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | I've never actually understood why we have a voice checkbox at all to be honest. If the credits indicate voice in some way then it will be recorded anyway, and if the credits don't indicate voice then so what? | | | Last edited: by Squirrelecto |
