In the profile for The Birdcage it lists it as a Keep Case.

I bought this title when it first came out and it is in a Snapper case.

I guess over the years MGM dropped the Snappers and went to keep cases, but in this case the UPC stayed the same.

My question is: Shouldn't this be listed as a Snapper in the database to reflect the DVD's original case and not how it was released years later?

I don't own this title to know how it was originally released... but the rules states that all info has to be from the original release... even the cover scans.

Yes!

Correct as well,, but wantedto point out one error in statement,, It wasn't years later but weeks later, Title was released August 97,, I bought the title in October 97 and it was a keepcase. So not YEARS later just mere days......

If anyone wants confirmation that it was released in a Snapper go to the link below.

Front cover

Back cover very different as compared to what is in database

That is from dvdempire.com.

As you can see it is a Snapper and the back cover is very different than what is in the current database.

Ok, so I may have been wrong about the time frame when this was available in a keep case, I was going by memory that WB distributed dvd's were in Snappers early on and then when Warner started to switch to keep cases many years later.

You know CubbyUps should keep that case he has in a safety deposit box somewhere, as it will probably be worth hundred of $ one day..,
You never know.,, Look at some of  the earliest Beatle Lp's such as the VJ label for 'Introducing... the Beatles' LP ..

And even some of the early TV Guides.. priceless.. But a snapper version of The Birdcage??

One day .., you never know.

All of MGM's first DVD releases were Snappers, and I can also confirm that "The Birdcage" was a snapper.
