| Posted: | | | | I hate to do this, I really do, but I just have to ask: Since DDD became DeepDiscount, has anyone else noticed a huge lack of customer service along with really slow order fulfillment? Since the merger, I've had to call and nag their CS department about two different items. Today's encounter was almost the last straw. After explaining my concerns about the potential loss of another DVD, I was told by "Lauree" that "it was too expensive for the company to reship a lost item." True, I did opt for the slower, free shipping method but I have never had to wait almost two weeks for an item to reach me from Rhode Island. My wife said it best, when she had to hear my umpteenth rant about this: If their merger happened at the expense of good customer care, then f*** them and move on. I'd love to hear your opinions. If I'm being a jerk, tell me so. | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb | | | Last edited: by Bluefox75 |

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't say you are being a jerk... when you pay for something you expect it in a timely matter... sounds sensible to me... but I can say that I have had nothing but good service with them... even after the merger. But I would also say that you need to go with your gut feeling on whether or not to use them anymore.
I can say that when I choose free shipping... it has in the past taken anywhere from a week and a half to about 2 and a half weeks to get to me. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I used to love using them and bragged to anyone who would listen (something I don't normally do). I used them for the better part of three years without a problem, but I've had to call them three times in the last 2 months about something that went missing or was delayed. I hate using Amazon, especially when I could always get it cheaper at DD.
I may be jumping the gun and the blame may lay soley on our wonderful postal system (don't get me started). If I don't have the package by Thursday, I'm going to call them again and I will get some sort of satisfaction....steeples fingers then pets cat languidly... | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb |

| Posted: | | | | That compay went to s**t! I live in Hawaii and usual FREE delivery times were about 2-3 weeks on average. I placed 4 orders within the last month and half. 2 got cancelled for whatever reason, because when I placed an order the following day the same items were available again and shipped. The first order took a little more than 4 weeks to get here (just arrived yesterday) and the 2nd order I am still waiting on supposedly shipped out on 3/9 but the tracking number provided only states that USPS has been electronically notified by the shipper.... I wrote to them twice and have yet to get an answer. Back to Amazon for me after this! | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. |

| Posted: | | | | I haven't ordered from them since the switch. I hope they haven't changed but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. Growth isn't always a good thing, especially for us consumers. I'd hate to loose them. They had such great sales |

| Posted: | | | | Well before the switch I had a parcel take somewhere around 8 months to arrive. In that time the reshipped the order twice (the third shipment and first turned up 3 months apart). Not wanting to blame anyone, but it did make them change their country code values as I live in Australia (AUS) but as they only stored two characters back then it went to AU (Austria). Now after the change (at least to their web site) I have had parcels arrive in 2-3 weeks (in Australia) and I am happy with that. I will be warey ordering around the big end of year sales though |

I'd love to hear your opinions. If I'm being a jerk, tell me so. No. In fact, both of the two orders I've made with them since they changed, have arrived sooner than they said they would. | | | John

I may try DVD Pacific, too. I used to order a lot from DVD Empire, but they are a little on the more expensive side... One or two orders proves nothing. It's how they perform over a period of time that really tells the tale. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | Sorry to hear about your troubles with them...I personally have never used them but I do know that the only thing more frustrating to me than bad business is bad business online. It is always such a hassle. I have only ever used DVDPlanet and Xploitedcinema and Ebay(Of course) Never with any problem. |

| Posted: | | | | I have ordered and received more than $10,000 worth of DVDs from them. I have noticed one change in their service since the change: their prices (with free shipping) are now often higher than Amazon (pre-shipping). I don't know if DD has subtly raised their prices or if Amazon has lowered their prices, but (if I buy more than $25 on a single order and get free shipping) Amazon is often cheaper to buy DVDs than DD... which, unitil the change, was rarely true.
And with the free shipping, Amazon shipments arrive faster (and always have).
So I buy more with Amazon these days, except for single preorders (which rarely qualify for free shipping at Amazon). | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I think I've spent many thousands of dollars with them too - just like VibroCount. There have been a couple of times when the packages took forever. Eventually they always turned up though. I suspect the problem lies with the postal system rather than DD. I've only had a few orders with the new DD - they have all been fine - in fact I submitted another order already this morning. DD is still one of the better sources for some of the more esoteric new releases. Best Buy rarely has low volume releases I find. I'm so happy - they just released "Sleepers" - an old Brit TV comedy/drama about Russian agents in the UK - it's excellent and frees up a couple of my few remaining VHS tapes... |

| Posted: | | | | There is one thing I like in the change. For years (an\bout 4) after I ordered an received a DVD to showed in process. Nothing I could do with customer service changed this. I always was afraid they would ship it again and charge me again. Since the change that is finally fixed. Maybe I'm picking nits, (actually no maybe ), but this is/was the only problem I ever had. | Posted: | | | | I have gotten some good deals from Columbia House. Every so often, they will have a buy one get on free sale with 60% remainder of the order. However, they are not that bright. I ordered some and decided to have them sent to my work address since I work an hour from home and all my orders go to the Post Office and I would have to leave work early to pick them up. They put my home address with the city and zip of my work address on the package and I never got it. I called to complain and they reshipped the order, but they sent me a letter stating that all orders would be shipped via UPS, I would have to pay extra for shipping and they would be watching my account for other lost shippments. I wrote them back and told them if they could get my address right, that that package would not have gotten lost. Also, NEVER geive them a credit card. I ordered 200.00 worth of DVDs back in 2003. They shipped half and wanted payment before they shipped the remainder of the order. I went online and paid with my debit card. I started getting all these old DVDs that they charged to my debit card that I did not order. I had to cancel the debit card and cancel the Columbia House account. About 3 months after this happened, I received an email from them stating that they were trying to ship a DVD to me, but my credit card had been declined. I deleted the email and a week later I got the DVD and the invoice said it was paid in full. I already had that DVD and I gave it away. |
