How to scan a glossy (slip)cover? |

| | Posted: | | | | For an alternate release of the Dutch 4K/BD combo of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with EAN 5051889579946, I need to scan a cover which is silvery grey glossed.
Now, my scans look like it has a terrible blue colour. I'm working with Photosuite and for scanning software I use windows scan.
Any suggestions how to get the nice silvery grey instead of the annoying blue haze?

| | Posted: | | | | Quite some scanners (in my case the Canon CanoScan LiDE 700F) have a Backlight Correction function in their software, originally to remove shadows from photos with quite a lot of backlight. But if properly adjusted then you could use this setting also for those shiny metallic (gold, silver, bronze, etc.) finished covers. It is just a case of trial and error. Oh, and afterward you also can use the Exposure, Shadows-Highlights, and White Balance functions of your photo editing software, just to adjust the picture more to your liking. What I do is place a transparent, but not entirely clear sheet of plastic (half of one of these folders) between the glass and the cover, and then correct for color/brightness/contrast/sharpness in my photo editing software. The results are usually pretty good. --------------- |
