| Posted: | | | | What ever the outcome, the following Alistair MacLean [Alistair Mac Lean] films are in the same boat:
THE GUNS OF NAVARONE 1961 THE SECRET WAYS 1961 ICE STATION ZEBRA 1968 WHERE EAGLES DARE 1969 WHEN EIGHT BELLS TOLL 1971 FEAR IS THE KEY 1973 BREAKHEART PASS 1976 FORCE 10 FROM NAVARONE 1978 RIVER OF DEATH 1989
If you go by the rules, then it is not an Original Material By credit. Yes, it is the author's name above the title, but I'm not sure if the title can serve as a source for crew credits.
I have listed some similar discussions from the past that may help: ==> http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=534355&PageNum=1 ==> http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=691099 | | | Last edited: by ObiKen |

| Posted: | | | | What about the cover says Charles Bronson (Mr. Majestyk) is at his dynamic, heroic best in this suspenseful, action-packed mystery/western based on the best-selling novel by Alistair MacLean (Where Eagles Dare). With a powerful cast that includes Ben Johnson (The Last Picture Show), Richard Crenna (First Blood), Jill Ireland (Breakout), Charles Durning (Tootsie) and Ed Lauter (The Longest Yard). Breakheart Pass throws open the throttle for runaway excitement! At the height of the frontier era, a locomotive races through the Rocky Mountains on a classified mission to a remote Army post. But one by one, the passengers are being murdered! Their only hope is John Deakin (Bronson), a mysterious prisoner-in-transit who must fight for his life - and the lives of everyone on the train - as he uncovers a deadly secret that explodes in a torrent of shocking revelations, explosive brawls and blazing gun battles. Directed by Tom Gries (Will Penny). | | | Last edited: by ruben. |

It doesn't say 'Based on the book by Alistair Maclean' at the beginning or end of the film, so we can't go by the credits. As crew cannot be uncredited, using the text on the Blu-ray sleeve as evidence, Maclean can't be listed as 'Original Material by'. | | | Last edited: by Nosferatu |
