| Posted: | | | | So I have come across a bunch of pictures that are either not accurate, no back artwork available or the scan just didnt turn out too well. Is there a way to find the missing and better ones? Even on some other websites? - I remember from a couple of years ago there was a site you could download all kinds of cd artwork. I dont want to bitch or anything, I am just a kind of a perfectionist and since we are spending so much money and time on our collections I want them to look the absolute best. I also want to try out that phpmypofiler program and know that you can use bigger scans for that as well. Since I am lazy and dont want to scan about 800 DVDs and then add them one by one myself I am wondering if there is any other help out there? Or is there at least an option that I can simple replace the current cover artwork with new ones without needing the exact same 0123456789.jpg name? This would make it somewhat easier. | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. |

You can just copy and paste and it applies the correct "0123456789.jpg" name by itself. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

I usually just go from the upper menu bar DVD -> Change covers, or something like that. I usually just right click on the covers and choose "Paste" |

| Posted: | | | | Any suggestions on a good scanner? I had an HP before but was not too happy with it and it died a couple of weeks ago. How about Epson? Won't be needing it for much else so it shouldnt be a $300 or up model. | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. |

It can scan slides and negatives, has a good dpi and bit depth, it even does infrared scanning to remove dust and scratches automatically. It's a nice little machine. http://www.canon.ca/english/index-products.asp?lng=en&prodid=672&sgid=21&gid=2&ovr=1&epage=viewallI don't know the price, but it should be affordable, or wouldn't have bought it! |

Used one of those at my office for the longest time. I am getting some prices now and might pick one up today. May the scanning begin!!! | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. |

I've been using an Epson Perfection 2400 for the past 4-5 years and have been very pleased with it Had the 2600 at the office, but they dont make those any more... So I just settled for the 4490 and will pick it up in a few. Without checking the guidelines for submitting titles or editing them for the Profiler, is there anything I have to watch out for when scanning those? Is there a max resolution or picture size to use, or a certain way they need to be saved (ie in Photoshop you have the option to save for web, which compresses it a bit to a smaller file size)? | | | - Life is just a form of animated death. | | | Last edited: by katharsis |

You would have to try to find one of them used ... but you can get the Canon LiDE 70 model from newegg for a reasonable price. May fit the bill if you do not want to spend an enormous amount of money but want good results. . | | | Antec Nine Hundred case, 4GB A-Data DDR2 800 RAM, Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz, ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP MB, XFX GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 video card, ZALMAN CNPS9500 AT 2 Ball CPU Cooling Fan/Heatsink, Seagate Barracuda 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s HDD, Zerodba 620W PSU, LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD with LightScribe SATA, Samsung CDDVDW SH-S203B SATA, Hanns-G HH281 28" monitor, Kodak ESP3250 printer, Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers, Windows 7 Professional | | | Last edited: by mwkirchner |

| Posted: | | | | My Canon LiDE30 died on me last month., so I have since picked up an Epson-CX5000., It takes so-so scans for the $dollar, I have contributed maybe 5 or 6 scans recently and the voting is going okay in my direction. I usually try and change scans of existing covers that are just plain terrible/blurry and off centre. I see a lot of contributions come thru for newer scans that are high quality and picture perfect that is just barely nudging out the previous high quality color image by a hair. I'd like to see bad changed to good or better, , rather than very best changed to very, very best. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. I have a CX5100 as well, and just had it cleaned (there were smudges under the glass). If you ever need to work out how to do this do not follow the Epson instructions, there are quicker and easier ways that anyone can manage (was worth the service call to find out though). |
