| Posted: | | | | I get a runtime error when I try to contribute a new birth year.
The error occurs when I check the checkbox to add the new birth year to the database. Hopefully it's possible to fix this is error. |

| Posted: | | | | I confirm this error. It is independent on the browser, checked with Chrome and Edge. |

| Posted: | | | | I still get an error for the Conan Chronicles at my online database and a broken picture symbol for my last 5 purchases.
What's the solution? I'm not technical minded. | | | Last edited: by jurgen42u |

| Posted: | | | | I still think there is stuff going on in the background to get the site working. |

| Posted: | | | | I put it in as a formal "ticket", for whatever it's worth. No answer however. |

The first one is on queeue for almost six years now and nithing has been done with that. The second one is almost 2 years in queue, but miraculously that problem was solved within a couple of days without any feedback. So hopefully that happens again. |

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately the support ticket didn't help solving the problem. So it's still not possible to add a new birth year to the database. |

| Posted: | | | | And it's still not possible to add new birth years...
This is getting a bit annoying now. |

While I'm thankful that I can still use DVD Profiler in a way that suits my needs, this particular error feels unnecessary. You'd think this - an existing bit of functionality - could be fixed in five minutes. Again, while I'm still (very) thankful for DVD Profiler, I've never been able to quite grasp what Ken's current view of this project is. It wouldn't be a huge stretch to guess that he's lost interest, or at they very least that "real life got in the way" somehow, and that's entirely understandable. What I don't understand, however, is the dualistic approach: on one hand, he does keep the DVD Profiler server up and running, which can't possibly be free while I'm sure that there's no new money coming in anymore, but on the other hand, there hasn't been any visible development in years and years, and even basic errors like this one aren't fixed. I would have understood if he'd just walked away and shut down the server, but I don't understand why he'd keep things running (and keep paying for it) while not addressing such basic issues. I wasn't ever expecting him to suddenly get back to working on DVD Profiler on a daily basis - but, hardware maintenance aside, even just spending one afternoon a year on it would really help us a lot. If that's really not an option, then why keep things running at all? Again, I'm glad that he does, but I don't understand it. For the record, and I've said so many times before: I do not expect Ken to work for free, and I fully understand that a one-time-fee paid literally decades ago isn't sustainable into 2024. So I'd be perfectly happy to support Invelos in the form of, say, a yearly fee. Gladly. And even then I wouldn't expect him to work on DVD Profiler daily, but I would want errors such as this one to be fixed. | | | Last edited: by T!M |
