This has gotten out of hand. If they would have stepped in and spent 2-3 minutes to clear this up this thread wouldn't' have devolved into this mess. I'm sorry, but you can't blame Ken and Invelos for people's inability to act like adults. Yes, they could have settled the issue, but people are responsible for their own actions and behavior. To blame Ken is to excuse the behavior, and there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I understand and agree with what you said Martian.
But at the same time I really do wish they would have looked and made a decision on this. Back almost 2 weeks ago I posted a support ticket saying that the thread needed to be looked at and a decision needed to be made... that the thread was starting to slide into a heated discussion that promised to only get worse. And that support ticket remains in queue unanswered. | | | Pete |

To blame Ken is to excuse the behavior, and there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. You absolutely should blame Ken and Invelos for this. The reason these threads get out of hand is he doesn't care enough about his users to get involved. He is the biggest part of the problem with this forum for not doing anything about this, not the people posting. If there were any sort of participation from him, 99.9% of these arguments wouldn't happen or would be shut down by page one. To not hold Ken accountable is excusing this behavior, and there is no excuse for him not being able to take two seconds out of his day to provide a simple answer. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

And how often exactly is he supposed to do that? Invelos (Gerri) gave a clarification for cases like this in 2009 (as pointed out on page 1 of this thread). So obviously the problem is not that there is no clarification, but the unwillingness of the users to accept this. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! So obviously the problem is not that there is no clarification, but the unwillingness of the users to accept this. As the original poster said, pick one way or the other. T2 here, no 007 there, etc. I can see Mika's frustration. I don't defend the posts he/she made, but it makes no sense to accept a logo here but not there. And to expect people to go back to 2009 threads for an answer is really silly. Put an ongoing list in the rules of what logos are accepted and what aren't, or to make it shockingly simple; pick one or the other. Plus, no one here makes any decisions with regards to the final say, so it is up to Ken or Gerri to clarify if one of the customers isn't satisfied with the answer from the other customers. If I was confused about something at Best Buy, I wouldn't take a customer's word on my questions even if they did shop there every day. I'd look for an employee. That's not too much to ask. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

To blame Ken is to excuse the behavior, and there is no excuse for that kind of behavior. Where did I say I'm excusing anyone's behavior? I'm pretty sure if Ken, or whomever, chimed in and clarified the rule it wouldn't have led to this ugly mess. I'm blaming ken for not taking the time to clarify a point from the rules. I find it very frustrating that we as a community spend thousands of hours updating the Invelos database and with very little input from Ken & company. This is an instance where a quick post by Ken could have cleared up the issue and everyone could move on. Sure there might be some that might disagree with his 'ruling', but at least it would give everyone direction on how to proceed. I really can't fathom why he hasn't posted, it isn't because he isn't aware of the situation. Pete put in a ticket a while ago and it went completely ignored. I know Ken is busy working on the Android version, and who knows what else he is working on. I don't mean to say he should drop what he is doing and concentrate on policing the forums, I'll I'm asking is he doesn't completely ignore them. Maybe he should get someone to be the Database Czar, to clarify the rules on his behalf. I'm sure there are a few people in the community that could fill that role. I'm not sure who the 'moderator' is, I assume it is Ken or Gerri in different clothes. They take the time to edit people's post but can't type in a few sentences to give guidance to us when there is a question on the rules? Quoting scotthm: Quote: Quoting Alien Redrum:

--------------- Again, I'm not excusing anyone's behavior or saying it's Ken's fault for anyone else's actions. But that doesn't change the fact that most, if not all, of it could have been prevented if an official 'ruling' would have been made? It seems like he just can't be bothered to help the people that contribute and make his product better. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

To not hold Ken accountable is excusing this behavior, and there is no excuse for him not being able to take two seconds out of his day to provide a simple answer. I absolutely should not, and will not. I hold Ken accountable for his actions, and I hold the users who can't have a civil discussion accountable for their actions. Ken is responsible for the continued discussion, the users are responsible for the nasty tone. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. This forum is like a 3rd grade classroom, and when the students continue to bicker and fight and the teacher does nothing about it, the mentality is it's clearly the students who at fault. Oooooooookkkkaaaayy. Except this isn't a third grade classroom and Ken isn't the teacher. This is a forum filled with adults...or so I thought. While it is true that some of those adults do, at times, act like third graders, it isn't Ken's fault. We, or at least I, are responsible for our own actions and behavior. Neither Ken, nor anybody else, can make you act like an *donkey*. As an adult, I understand and accept that fact. So obviously the problem is not that there is no clarification, but the unwillingness of the users to accept this. 007 should not be included as part of the title of James Bond films. This has been something that people have long tried to get into the database, even from the early days. The Italian contributions that changed this should not have been accepted. It is possible that Ken feels otherwise, but from my work throughout the years, 007 has never been appropriate for the James Bond films. It is just a symbol on the cover of the DVD/BluRay, it is not part of the title, IMO. How does this make it clear? She's talking about a specific symbol of a specific DVD/BR (not a logo). The problem is here as with the rules, it is not worded with specific but general wording that allows personal interpretation to become involved. And when you have 2 different opinions where both sides believing they are the only right answer you get 1 or 2 pages of discussions, and then another 5+ of argueing and name calling. This all falls on leadership. |
