I don't wish to be insulting. But you continue to show me that you have absolutely no understanding of what i am saying. I am wasting my time trying to explain it to you. I am sorry, in point of fact I don't blame you, something is lacking in my ability to explain it, though I have no idea what it is, the issue is so clear, simple and obvious that I simply don't understand why you don't get it...but you don't and you won't.
But like I have saiid this is also totally irrelevant to me. My data is my data from now on, You guys can do whatever you wish to wreck the database, and you are well on that path, even though I know you don't see it.
Skip That's funny because you seem to be contributing today. Go ahead and answer my questions. If I don't understand your reponse, maybe someone else can help me: Quoting m.cellophane: Quote: Quoting skipnet50:

It is not a red herring, and you saying so, diminishesd your argument and reinforces that you don't get it. Because you don't see the issue of Consistency. Talk about your basic Red herring
Skip What's consistent about your unilateral decision to start contributing disc dividers in cast lists, which is so far contrary to what everyone else is contributing? If you can support a positive argument for doing it, there is still the issue that all episodic profiles either need to be redone or your work will be inconsistent with everyone else's.
As has been stated numerous times by others, the Edition field data is entered consistently. We take the info off the box and put it into the field regardless of whether it is seen as valuable to everyone.
That's not the same "consistency" that applies to suddenly adding disc dividers to cast and crew lists. We have been "consistently" not adding such dividers!! If you start contributing them, your profiles become inconsistent with how everyone else is doing it. Explain why that's a good idea. | | | ...James

Skip No, completely different - descriptions may not be in the future as new releases may happen. that is not the case for your duplicate pointless, redundant info. You clearly did not get the point! | | | Andy

| Posted: | | | | Only new titles, James. And I will continue to add pre-release data. But Normal audits i will keep to myself I am fed up with some users voting inconsistently, yes I mean you. And what used to be a very easy process is becoming very burdensome, thanks to the attitudes of a very small number of users.

He is contributing again today. Same old empty threats time after time. | | | Andy

Skip There are 5 contributions from you in my queue at present. I've voted 'yes' to all of them. You don't have much to complain about there. Explain why there should be disc dividers in cast and crew on an inconsistent ad hoc basis? | | | ...James

Skip You want more data. I hear that. Increased functionality and usability. I hear that. Explain why contributions should start adding this data which is inconsistent with the way all previous TV sets have been entered into the master db. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | It is not inconsistent at all, James. North and South is a bit of an oddity, though not a totally unusual one. You will find numerous TV sets that have been set up using Side Data to define what is on the disc. Because of the setup of North and South, it also requires Disc data, since we can't get to Grandchild data...yet.

Skip Unlikely, that would take 2 rational people, and James is looking kinda lonely on that count. | | | Andy

Skip I asked much earlier in this thread if anyone had seen other examples of this in other profiles. Are you saying that there are other profiles that contain disc dividers in the cast and crew? Which ones. I would seriously like to check them out. By saying that North and South is an oddity, are you saying that these dividers should not be added to all episodic profiles? What is the distinction. How do we know when it's ok and when not. North and South is like a complete series set with multiple seasons in it. Should these dividers go into all complete series sets? | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | Good lord, man. Read what i said, North and South is an oddity (the first I have seen in this form), I expect to see another one when i do Roots(original Release). But there are PLENTY of TV series that currently use Side dividers and Disc adds one level and one more piece of valuable data.
