The only thing that I would suggest if we go this route is that we drop the II, III, etc., unless it is an actual suffix of their name! | | | Hal |

Agree.
As I understand it this is where we would use the DoB Agreed on using DOB instead. And where do you think all of the DOB's will come from? | | | ...James

And where do you think all of the DOB's will come from? Obviously a certified copy of the birth certificate will be required. (no photo copies please) |

I think the suggestion was to simply use it as a guide for the Main name. If you think about it it does have some merit. Not sure where I stand on it to be honest, but it would give everyone access to the same list of common names |

| Posted: | | | | The battle against use of a common name has been lost, so those that have opposed it forever, you might as well give it up.
The question now is how do we all agree on a "Common Name"?
IMDb is a very viable alternative.
Not the only one, but also not to be dismissed out of hand. After all, we are here to discuss solutions. All solutions.
Using the common name from IMDb is NOT the same as screen scraping the cast and crew list and wholesale entering them into DVDP! | | | Hal |

Using the common name from IMDb is NOT the same as screen scraping the cast and crew list and wholesale entering them into DVDP! And just who says that the name on IMDB is the right name? We ALL know their data is not only inaccurate, but purposely spiked so they can catch people using it without permission. Going ANYWHERE NEAR IMDB is a colossal mistake as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather see this part stay broke than resort to that. | | | John
