A wonderful little gem of a film! Vincent Price is incomparable as always, and the rest of the cast is a solid backup. The atmosphere is perfect gothic horror, filled with unseen menace and creepy details. Highly recommended! Verdict: 3.5/5 (a good movie, solidly entertaining with no glaring flaws) | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | Title: An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe Movie Count: 7 Other Count: 2 Vincent Price tells four of Poe's tales, three of them famous and one of them less well known. I am simply floored by Price's talent. Yes, this is just Price, by himself, with Poe's immortal words. Yes, he is just storytelling. But his dramatic performance is amazing. Absolutely amazing. All of the tales are excellent, but the best performance by far is for "The Tell-Tale Heart." Price is now easily my second favorite actor of all time. I am left with thinking that, on the one had that what a shame he was so typecast as he had such a talent, and on the other hand what a boon for the horror genre. Price apparently considered this the best of his Poe productions, and I can see why, because he absolutely shines. Verdict: 4/5 (an excellent film) | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield | | | Last edited: by Danae Cassandra |

| Posted: | | | | The Wizard of Gore: Unrated Region 1 Released: 8/19/2008 Anamorphic 1.85:1 What They Say:Magic, madness and mayhem join in this diabolical remake of the 1970 horror cult classic. Crispin Glover (Willard) stars as a master illusionist whose female audience participants (SuicideGirls) are hideously murdered onstage, only to miraculously reappear untouched. But when an underground reporter (Kip Pardue, Remember the Titans) finds they're later turning up dead with the same wounds as those inflicted during the performance, his investigation leads to unimaginable terror. Featuring Bijou Phillips (Hostel: Part II) and Brad Dourif (Rob Zombie's Halloween), The Wizard of Gore takes you on a terrifying journey deep into the heart of evil. What I Say:I really wanted to like this movie. Had lots of gore, acts to make you cringe, lots of bloody death, references to government mind control experiments, and the Suicide Girls provided plenty of eye candy but I still managed to fall asleep 4 times watching this I have no idea what it was about this movie but it just could not keep me interested and made me doze off. | Posted: | | | | Offspring All Regions Released: 10/6/2009 Widescreen 1.78:1 What They Say:They Hunt in Packs. They Feed on Flesh. They Prey on Innocence. They are back with a vengeance and an insatiable appetite for human flesh. Their time has come again. Based on the acclaimed novel and adapted for the screen by best-selling author Jack Ketchum. Offspring follows the survivors of a brutal flesh-eating clan that has resurfaced in the once sleepy town of Dead River, Maine. The locals are in for a rude awakening when they realize it's the same pack that the sheriff thought he'd killed off a decade ago. Just when they thought the nightmare was over, they're about to discover that the fight for their lives has only just begun. What I say:Plenty of Gore and mayhem while the clan finds food among the locals. This was pretty much your no holds bared Grind house flick of good old mindless brutal fun. I enjoyed it. |

| Posted: | | | | Title: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street Movie Count: 8 Other Count: 2 A rich mix of obsession, revenge, murder, and cannibalism, told as a musical. In Victorian times, a barber, wrongfully exiled, returns to England set on revenge against the men who stole his wife and child. Now, I know that some may not consider this a horror film. But, for my opinion, no one does Gothic horror quite like Tim Burton. Certainly no one can set up an atmosphere and the look of a film quite the way he can. The horror of the film is nothing supernatural; the horror of it is what life has dealt to Todd, what his madness and his obsession with revenge drives him to. And, admittedly, the graphic bloody violence of the murders certainly helps make it horror to my mind. The blacks and greys of Burton's palette only make the bright red blood stand out the more. Very high on style with quite a bit of substance as well.
