| Posted: | | | | Good to see we have a good Aussie contingent here. I 've never visited but my parents did and a good friend did and they raved about what a wonderful visit they had. I'd love to visit myself some day. My favorite Aussie themed film is Gallipoli. Being an ignorant American I didn't realize what a prolific film industry you guys have. On a side note one of my guilty pleasures on TV was the syndicated "The Lost World" which ran for 3 seasons a few years back. Filmed in Australia. A lot of fun and starred a few Australian actors along with some American and Canadians I believe. I didn't realize there were still dinosaurs in remote areas of Australia -- it sure came in handy though when the filmed the Lost World. Brian |

Any NZ (DVD) content you want to bring to light? I haven't got it but the classic 'Goodbye Pork Pie' from 81 is available. Another Kiwi movie that gets good wraps is 'The Quiet Earth' from 85 with Bruno Lawrence. I do have 'Footrots Flats - The Dogs Tail'. 'Slice of Heaven' is without doubt the unoffical Kiwi National Anthem. Cheers Morpheus |

I've seen contribs from Rutan (though not for some time), but I don't know that I've encountered Golden Nimon.
So 10 Aussies who we can name thus-far, building the R4 database. Has anyone encountered any Kiwis? I'd expect there would be even fewer of them.
Which states (probably capitals would still hold accurate) are people from? I'm in Adelaide (which got a mention in the dodgy movie I watched last night! - Star Odyssey) Just for the record I live in Melbourne and vote and contribute in answer to W0m6at although as with many of these things maybe not that much in common or more likely I have been pounding away at getting Minder up to date. Also I do lurk in the “Underbelly” of this site. Speaking of “Underbelly” have many people have seen it despite the court injunction in Victoria? Cheers Kelvin |

| Posted: | | | | Seeing this is an Aussie thread, I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask anyone if they own a copy of Scary Movie 3. I just did the profile and my copy is missing the Commentary even though it's listed on the back cover and on the menu selection. According to Michael D's DVD Review Site it may only affect some discs. So I want to know if anyone who owns this title has the same glitch, or did I just get a dud? http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Glitches/Glitches.asp#12038 UPC/EAN 9398532749032 I've owned this for over three years so there'd be noway of getting a replacement/refund anyway. | | | In the end; Winning is the only safety. My bro has a copy, but he took it with him a few weeks ago (most of his collection is within easy grasp). If you'd asked earlier I could have checked for you. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

Not to mention typically Kiwi classics such as LOTR, King Kong and Heavenly Creatures, of course... Of course I don't mind you replying! I found both Whale Rider and Once Were Warriors to be excellent films, but not ones I wish to revisit in a hurry (OWW is in my long-standing "To sell" pile that I need to get to). Scarfies is an excellent film. It's one of many films I've showed to friends who were unsure whether to trust me or not, but that they then loved. I found it had a bit of a Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels vibe (probably the "ordinary young people out of their depth" thing). The Locals was also pretty cool. I highly recommend (from NZ) Mataku. It's an anthology TV series with modern applications/adaptations of traditional Maori legends. I also recommend Woodenhead, which is downright bizarre. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |
