| Posted: | | | | Thanks Ken for this feature. I just love it Can we now please focus on what the Master names should be. I think if we all work together we can get this to work. It would have been nice with a own place in the forum just for this. So i totaly agree with the ones who proposed it I have one question though. Does the software and DB supports letters like "æ", "ø" and "å"? These are letters in my language, and are fairly common. | | | Last edited: by pompel9 |

| Posted: | | | | I really don't understand why you all let yourself drag into discussions with those very few users that do not provide constructive input. As far as I know, the users of Tom Gaines' CCViewer program were able to find agreement over the alias definitions. Same should be possible here. | | | Matthias |

I will give you two guesses who they are. So Matthias, what are the chances of you updating your 'name variants' program to work with the XML from DVDP 3.0. I'm looking forward to the next version. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

So far, the examples have been:
Courtney Cox Arquette -> Courtney Cox Sam Jackson -> Samuel L Jackson
What we are trying to decide is which name is the Master name and which name is the alias...
-Gerri Going back six pages to try and start with Gerris request... My proposals for a few master names to kick this off, with examples of other pseudonyms used in brackets... Courtney Cox (as listed before) Samuel L Jackson (sam jackson) David Attenborough (Sir David Attenborough) Laurence Fishburne (Larry Fishbourne) Robert De Niro (robert denero) Al Pacino Helena Bonham Carter (too many to list) Robin Wright (robin wright penn) René Enríquez (rene enriquez) Terence Hill (mario girotti) Robin Williams (various like bob hope!) Mark Linn-Baker (Mary Linn-Baker) Crispin Glover (crispin hellion glover) Farrah Fawcett (Farrah Fawcett Majors) Zero Mostel (Zero) Tara Strong (Tara Charendoff) Michael J Fox (michael fox) Steven Blum (david lucas) Anthony Head (anthony stewart head) Leo Gorcey (leo r. gorcey) Edward Norton (ed norton) Larry David (buck dancer) Edward Burns (edward j burns) Kelsey Grammer (kelsey grammar) | | | |

| Posted: | | | | OK...let's try to start discussing some possible guidelines for the "Master Name" field.
1. No accents (é, ü, , ç, etc.) 2. Double Quotes for "nicknames" in the Middle Name field 3. no commas separating suffixes such as Jr., Sr. 4. Period after all abbreviated suffixes such as Jr., Sr.
That will get us started. I'm sure there are lots more to discuss. | | | Hal |

The converse argument is that they will be added to "credited as" if they are in the actual film credits.
Just throwing these out there, James. | | | Hal |

That's the only one I have a problem with. I think 90% of the people who are Jr, Sr, II, III, IV use a comma after their name, before the suffixes. My friends do, and my cousins (of which I have a Jr and a III) do as well. |
