You say you want to see something different, but, you always criticize new options and never propose anything new. That's probably because there is only one real solution and it requires a program change. Everything else, including a name committee, is just a band aide. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. Even with a program change, a huge work will have to be done : even with a unique identifier, we'll need to enter information saying that John S. Taylor is the same person than John Stewart Taylor but is different from John Stirling Taylor (And the John Taylor in "Welcome on Invelos Planet" is not the same person than the John Taylor in "Welcome on Invelos Planet 2"). To obtain a good linking we have to know who is who, and this needs much work. With a tiny change in rules, refusing the stupid "as credited" concept which leads to a nightmare, we could have worked during the last 8 years to build a name database with each actor at the right place. With no-no people as we have in this thread, we just did quite nothing for the online during those 8 years (resolved common names threads are less than 3% of existing problems (statistics on my own collection). But during those years, dozens of interested users made dozens of times the same job to get a local linking. All this is a huge waste of time just to get the total mess called online database. | | | Images from movies |

True, it will be a huge job but I for one would gladly participate. I suspect many others would too, who have, like me, given up on the common names and birth years, which don't fix the problem permanently. |

Either he is dead, injured, very ill or siply not interested in the contribution topics at all. So you are saying siply not interested in the contribution topics at all.He reminds me of George Lucas, out of touch and doesn't give a crap about the fans/clients... but I doubt Disney is going to fork over $4 Billion to take over his company and actually put out a product that we all want. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server | | | Last edited: by DoubleDownAgain |

You think, I should have asked Disney instead of the users around here - they move at least in a direction.
