so I will contribute per the rules. and you can continue to vote No, based on a statement that was never followed through with. I can't follow this interpretion. Fact is, Gerri made the promise to update the rules and did not deliver it. She did never say or do anything which allows us to insinuate her mind changing. Looking closer at this thread the ongoing discussion did not bring any new arguments or facts to change Gerris mind at all. I don't know why or when exactly Gerri disappeared, but I'd see a higher probability in the assumption she disappeared before making the change to the rules than in the assumption she changed her mind neither telling us this mind change nor the reason for it... | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Addicted2DVD: Quote: because the rule you quote is for complete season/series... a single disc can not be a complete season or series. A single disc is no more then an anthology (a collection) of episodes. which we use earliest air date of episode on the disc. I think, it is a very arbitrary assumption that a disk, which is part of season box set, is not a part of the season of the box set but an individual anthology of episodes... ... but I know, you are not really interested in the logic or the spirit behind the rules but in the simple and stupid wording of them; I won't argue with you on the fact, that the wording could be improved. | | | Complete list of Common Names • A good point for starting with Headshots (and v11.1) |

| Posted: | | | | And I am not arguing the wording of the rules. I 100% wholeheartedly believe a single disc from a set (whether a season set, compete series set, set of volumes or best of or what ever else) is an anthology disc. No other thought has ever crossed my mind. And this thread does nothing to change my mind on it. | | | Pete |

I can see how someone can interpret the rule that way. In my opinion, I think the rule isn't worded very clearly. I believe the original intent of that rule was for releases which included a random mixture of episodes from multiple seasons/series or "best of" sets. Such as: If this is the case then it would have been better had the rule stated "episodes from anthology sets". Then again, how do we treat volume releases which release episodes in order but there are multiple volumes per season? |

Why the sudden urge to add the "original title" Show Name to the profile Show Name: The Complete Xth Season: Disc Y.
What's the objective behind it? Maybe if I understand that, this discussion will start to make sense to me. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

It's been over 6 years with nothing added to the rules for this issue. Just was the time for it. and in the future it will come around again, just like location/unit crew, accented names, Asian names, characters/logos in DVD titles, additional crew/Additional in headers and the other issues that have never been really resolved. |

What's the objective behind it? Maybe if I understand that, this discussion will start to make sense to me. I agree with this. I don't know if it's just the TV shows I own (and I own a lot and have from a long time dating back to DVD), but only recently am I starting to see people contribute this Original Title claim. I tell you, between this, the conversation on what constitutes a 'short,' and whether or not to put features from all discs of a combo pack on the main profile, there are A LOT of rules which I guess need to be clarified... |

| Posted: | | | | If it was up to me, original title for any TV show with a series or season indicator would simply be the name of the show.
For example: Title: Malcolm in the Middle: Season 1 Original title: Malcolm in the Middle
Title: My Family: Series 10 Original Title: My Family
Sort title can be used to order correctly in personal collections of course. |

What's the objective behind it? Maybe if I understand that, this discussion will start to make sense to me. my example of why I want the change is Mike Kersey CLT 47 titles must be a well know actor actual 7 titles. He has been in 7 episodes from 7 different TV shows as a minor character in them. Brandon Kirsch 24 titles 2 seasons of CSI; 2 titles. 1 episode season 3 3 episodes season 4 | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

actual 7 titles. He has been in 7 episodes from 7 different TV shows as a minor character in them. So you want to change primary data to serve a (broken) secondary tool. As long as DVDP has the option to switch the list display to Original Title, I'm against leaving out any season or disc indicators. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

I just want to use the original title field for the original title. and we are back to the beginning - having content in the original title field that is not the original title. it's just a big circle. | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

Ken's here, he's just passively viewing the forums. |
