Brilliant It doesn't fix the ABCs of Death one, but sounds like the simplified rule needs a further point explaining it doesn't apply to abbreviations. If the automated conversion tool used on submission uses the same functionality then it won't work of course. Given the discussions I can't blame Ken for trying to simplify things, but it needed a bit more thought before implementation. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Lithurge |

Creating a profile from scratch needs about 5 minutes. Verifying an existing one, data by data, then modifying the numerous spelling mistakes in names and correcting the overview takes at least as much time. But with the second solution, experience shows that systematically some errors have not been seen... | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

People are already submitting corrections based on the tool. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

For abbreviations it relies on you entering correct data to get the correct result, e.g. if you enter NCIS it will return NCIS, but if you enter Ncis it will return Ncis.
It does have the potential for misleading people into submitting incorrect data as it will correct the capitlisation on normal titles, so people may not understand how it works with abbreviations. So you may want to consider flagging abbreviations specifically as I suggested earlier.
The A Team is only an issue if the release does not include a - between a and team. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | I would say any 'correct' change is of value, but these have been ridiculous.
Honestly, I think this filter and these new capitalisation rules should just be removed and something called common sense should be put in place.
I never noticed it as an issue before. Never saw any back and forth with title capitalisation. |

The rule itself says these unnecessary changes are highlighted in the rules. So is title capitalization highlighted in the rules as not to be done by themselves? Nope... so they are correct to put through alone per the rules. | | | Pete |

I'll let you in on a little known secret -- once the profile is in your local database you can modify the capitalization (and even spelling) of the title in ways that might surprise you. Try it some time. You can even lock the title field so that subsequent refreshes of the profile will not undo all your hard work achieving title perfection.
You'll be amazed at how trivial all this will seem once the epiphany strikes.
