Removed several posts with off-topic and insulting comments, and removed posts which largely only referenced those posts.

Take a deep breath and count to ten before posting, but please ignore any attacking posts and instead use the red arrow to report, as from this point forward admin actions will follow.

I was spending time off line getting my thoughts together in response to Skip's comments to me.

So, I missed the forum moderator's request and posted those thoughts.

Although it is hard to ignore responding to attacking posts, I will do my best to do do except for red flagging them.

Edit: My response to Skip was removed.

I personally have issues with blind cloning.

Of course: Thou shalt not clone blindly!

1.  How do you decide what profile to clone, and how are you sure that that profile is accurate.

The first one is easy, the one that fits the best.
Second: you simply make sure that it is accurate to the new discs in question, e.g. by following this little check-list.

2.  How do you make a conscious decision to replace 1 accepted profile (completed profile) with another accepted  (completed) profile.

Well, that, in my opinion is a case where cloning isn't advisable at all.
Cloning for me is: "No profile there yet? Let's find the nearest, have a good look over and up it goes."

Getting back to the topic at hand, I usually clone data from a DVD profile when a Blu-ray catalog title is released, but only when there is no real cast or crew in the profile.  Better to have data that is most likely correct than no data at all.  If someone wants to take the time to recheck the entire credits for a title that was -- according to contributions in the original profile -- already audited, more power to them.  But I don't have the time for that.  I purchase a lot of films and can't go through the credits for each and every one when I have to scan the covers and add the rest of the pertinent data, especially when it has already been done.  That's why the cloning option exists.

This is my point of view as well...though I haven't had a chance to contribute much lately.  As I only purchase a few films a month, and they are mainstream films, someone...usually TheMovieman...always beats me to the punch and, for that, I am very greatful.  Many thanks to him, and all the others who make my life a little easier.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
