Hmmmmm, I wonder why? I don't know, given that your last post was July 8. Are you just in a cantankerous mood today?

| Posted: | | | | this is almost becoming comical... Skip... you are back for one day and yet there is confilct... I know better than to ask you to change... but maybe you would offend less people if you DID NOT USE CAPS SO MUCH!

| Posted: | | | | Or just perhaps the problem isn't mine, jon. I didn't want to come back, frankly, but mneither am i willing to watch Profiler descend into an abyss, but i don't want to get into that either. I think there are users that have either an agenda or a vendetta and that's their problem.
I don't see the conflict to which you refer I see some healthy discussion and debate. I do some problems caused by the usual suspects but I can't say that i see any conflict. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | So, Jon you feel it is perfectly acceptable to come and PUBLICLY attack another user even though that user said NOTHING to you. No, jon that is harassment and is against the Rules of Invelos and yes that means I threw a red arrow at you. i Have not attacked or insulted anyone, yet you think you can, take a hike. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! | Posted: | | | | I can't read some posts due to me blocking some users, but it seems there is some unrest. It's a pity to hear that and I hope everyone will try their best to improve the atmosphere again (although, again, I didn't notice any of that due to blocking some posters).
I picked up on the fact that some seem to vote on cover scans without having the cover at hand. I don't think that's a good idea. Especially for slight color variations, one simply can't rely on memory alone. Also, I think it's important to have a correctly calibrated monitor, to be sure to be able to vote correctly. What I usually do for cover scans is: - when submitting: check on at least two different computers or on my HDTV using the PS3 - when voting: make sure to have the original cover at hand and if it is an old one, take possible discoloration due to old age into account

| Posted: | | | | You were gone for a month and there were almost no problems. You came back and the very first post you contributed was " ". I found that simple post a hint of things to come. Would you like some examples of your unacceptable behavior? How about the one regarding Slip Cases vs Slip Covers. Here is your quote: Quoting Prof. Kingsfield: Quote:
Indeed it was, and Ken made no flippin' sense with Slip cases sometmes being Slip Cover because of something that is not logical, that is why I ultimately keep case data to myself. That was an irrational and completely illogical call at the time and remains so to day A Slip Case is a Slip Case and a Slip Cover is a Slip Cover a Sklip case is NEVER a Slip Cover. I'm sorry but this type of rhetoric is not conducive to a positive forum atmosphere. Why do you continue to berate and demean others opinions if they disagree with you? Especially the owner of the program. As I politely suggested on that thread, if you do not agree with something in the database bring it to the Rules Committee for discussion...POLITE discussion. Telling the owner of the program he "made no flippin' sense" is confrontational and, well let me quote you yet again from this thread: Quoting Prof. Kingsfield: Quote: So, Jon you feel it is perfectly acceptable to come and PUBLICLY attack another user even though that user said NOTHING to you. No, jon that is harassment and is against the Rules of Invelos and yes that means I threw a red arrow at you. i Have not attacked or insulted anyone, yet you think you can, take a hike. You are a problem Skip whether you are able to see it or not. You have only been back a very short time and these are just a few disturbing things you have said. I'm not saying you are the only one but you are, in my opinion, the biggest detriment to this community. Edit: I just re-read your quote and would like to add something for you to think about. As you stated, it is against the rules to publicly attack another user. Therefore it is against the rules for you to publicly attack the owner of the program. Quoting Prof. Kingsfield: Quote: Or just perhaps the problem isn't mine, jon. I didn't want to come back, frankly, but mneither am i willing to watch Profiler descend into an abyss, but i don't want to get into that either. I think I have illustrated that you are a problem. Do you want to be banned permanently? Frankly, unless your behavior changes dramatically, I would have preferred that you had not come back. The "abyss" as you call it was quite pleasant without you. | | | Last edited: by Kathy |

The "abyss" as you call it was quite pleasant without you. Kathy, it's too late for Skip. There is a line that, once crossed, no amount of reconciliation can fix. Skip crossed that line long ago. So many people now dislike him that even if he was to rehabilitate himself, he could not be trusted. The other issue is that because he is so unpopular, he sees no reason to change his attitude because he knows it will not change the lack of respect forum members have for him. Therefore, he continues to be that loose canon that goes off when you least expect it. In fact, Skip now appears to fit the classic definition of an internet "troll". He now appears to post things purely to see if he can get a rise out of people. The "abyss" comment you mentioned is a typical example. In that comment, he is saying that Profiler is doomed without him, everybody else is incapable of submitting good data, and he sees himself as the only person that can stop that and bring Profiler back from the "brink". |

I don't agree with this at all, but if that is the case then those unwilling to forgive and forget are just as much a part of the problem. Without excusing anyone for bad behavior, you do not have to respond in kind to rude or insulting comments. If it weren't for the tendency of threads to get derailed, I couldn't give two flips about personalities here. Quote: In fact, Skip now appears to fit the classic definition of an internet "troll". I don't think this is true either, but one thing I do know is that most everyone that's been here for any length of time knows how very easy it is to push Skip's buttons, and those that do it intentionally (and there are several) are certainly trolling. There is blame from many sides and we should all refrain from discussing other posters and their motivations as much as possible. I include myself in this. Let's let the red and green arrows do all our talking about other posters. --------------- |

Very isn't the word... You just need to say the contrary of what he write (whatever it make sense or not) and you are sure to became an hater for him (with all the insults accompanying this title thrown at you). Most of the users I don't agree with don't react this way in a discussion here... Of course they don't change their minds but it's the mentallity here. |

You will only very scarcely find someone to change his mind in the heat of the discussion, usually it takes some time for good argument to sink in and get noticed as "correct". | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
