Quote: But could you actually point a finger to their voice appearance in the movie? Do I really have to go and re-watch these movies right now, and then try to spot a few? Is that what it takes? I have no real opinion in that matter, I just try to understand why do want them so badly. And you don't want them just for yourself, you try really hard to get them into the online database. For me the cast list is about useful information and usability. That's the reason I abandoned DVDP cast data and replaced it with IMDb data (Yes I know, I said 'Jehova'). So you know that Lanei Chapman does additional voices in some movies. I know her from "Space: Above and Beyond". But if you can't really see or hear her in one of her "additional voice" movies - how useful is that information to you or anyone else? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Why don't we just list the few "big stars"? How useful is a sound editor to you or anyone else? It's all in the eye of the beholder... The simple fact is: if these actors list these voice credits on their resumé's, then why should we decide otherwise? |

But if you can't make her out in any way, when you can't say I saw or heard her at 1:03:51 how can that be a cast member? For me it feels as if you are trying to enter them as cast because they don't fall under the default crew categories and you wouldn't be allowed to enter them as crew. But that's just IMHO. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Well, I can't say I'm particularly interested in them. I merely asked a question about how to contribute a particular case in a correct way, for me that's all. Would I be in favour of starting to include ADR credits in general? No, I think not. |

Quote: How useful is that information to you or anyone else? Someone could ask that question for just about everyone we track. Why don't we just list the few "big stars"? I watch quite a number of TV shows and often I muse from where I know a certain actor. Then I look it up. But that also means I can see and/or hear him in the original movie/series and in the other ones. Quote: How useful is a sound editor to you [...]? Totally useles. Except for director I have no crew whatsoever. Quote: How useful is a sound editor to [...] anyone else? Don't know. But I can show you the rule that explicitly allows them. Quote: The simple fact is: if these actors list these voice credits on their resumé's, then why should we decide otherwise? Because we don't care for their birth name, their birth year (unless we absolutely need it), their height, their weight, their actual/current hair colour and whatever else you can imagine that is printed on their CVs. If Will Smith would state on his CV that he voiced Dumbo in "Dumbo" I still wouldn't put him in the cast list - even when the ears do seem to match. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

They are voice actors and are casted by a voicecaster. I don't need to know where they can be heard. Heck most people I see in a movie I don't know by name and I don't want to, I only want to store the information in my database to know they participated. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

I still don't understand it but that's ok, I don't have to. Since I have no personal interest in this debate I will withdraw from this debate now. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Quote: Can someone give me one name of a famous person that made a noteworthy ADR appearance and is not credited among the usual cast? Depends on what your definition of a "famous person" is. Here are a few rather busy actors that appear multiple times in my collection, both with "regular", on-screen roles, as well as ADR or Loop Group ones:
- Greg Finley - Lanei Chapman - Richard Penn - Jack Blessing - Chad Einbinder - Robert Clotworthy - Bobby Jacoby (also known as Robert Jayne)
I don't know if they're "famous" enough for you, but they're certainly all very familiar faces to me, each with lots of acting credits in my database. I see that IMDb (to which you link above) classifies ADR as "Miscellaneous Crew". | | | ...James

Let's see how willing to embrace IMDb's outlook on things Skip suddenly is going to be in a few moments. Usually, this would push him towards the exact opposite view, but I'm pretty sure this occasion will be the exception... |

I checked some other sites, choosing Robert Clotworthy for my search: TCM: Lists his ADR/Loop credits under Sound or Post-Production, separate from his Cast credits. Allmovie.com: Lists his ADR/Loop credits under Production Credits, separate from his Cast credits. BFI: No specific credits, but shows that he has 19 Cast credits and 14 Sound credits. Yahoo Movies: Lists his ADR/Loop credits under Sound or Other, separate from his Cast credits. | | | ...James
