You are arguing for an exception based on a SINGLE title and that won't work. For CONTRIBUTION the Rules are the RULES. What you want to do locally is up to you. Based on the Covers the correct answer as I explained yesterday is very obvious whether we like it or not. Just do it. the UPC# s will find the titles. Every change to the Rules has ramificartions, some of which can be anticipated and some of which cannot but in every case the ramifications are not positive in nature.
The answer is on the cover and in the Rules, just follow it and do what you will locally.

| Posted: | | | | bah, it only mentions collections without indicating collection has to be on the cover, it gives examples not limiting ones that i can see. So edition fleld has become some kind of dumping field to get sometihing in to, either this or that or some of those and lost a bit of its attraction, opening the field even more to put in more variations of the same DVD without any variation on the dvd. This makes that we now have more legit titles for the some thing:
The One With All The Birthdays The One With All The Birthdays: Collectors Edition The One With All The Birthdays: Friends Collection Friends: The One With All The Birthdays Friends: The One With All The Birthdays: Collectors Edition Friends: The One With All The Birthdays: Friends Collection
anymore legit titles for this one DVD Release?
Edit: sorry Collection should be Collectors Edition Edit: Friends: The One With All The Birthdays forgot this one in the list | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. All of your other examples are incorrect, based on the rules and what is shown on the cover. How does that work out? Quote: It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate. If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title. The edition fleld is not required? you may use the a standard description: Collectors Edtion | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Title: The One With All The Birthdays Edition: Friends Collection which going by the rules and the covers is what looks correct to me.... at least for contribution per the Rules. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | He can also correct me: no where is stated that the edition field is required. As for the rules this makes already 2 titles are allowed: The One With All The Birthdays The One With All The Birthdays: Collectors Edtion
and why would Friends: in front of the title not be allowed, as i seem to recollect there are a lot of titles in the online database in this format: Series Title: Title | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | The Edition Rules: Quote: The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition). It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate. If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title. It tells you how to use it... not that there is an option not to use it. Quote: and why would Friends: in front of the title not be allowed, as i seem to recollect there are a lot of titles in the online database in this format: Series Title: Title You can not use what is already in the database to determine what is right or wrong... you can only use the rules and ken/gerri's comments on this forum for that. In the case of these releases it specifically says it is collections which per rules the collections go in the edition field Looking at these covers they are... The One With All The Birthdays The One With All The Weddings The One With All The Babies And all those titles are within the "Friends Collection" Even before this thread came up I always say "The One With All The XXX" to be the title of the DVD Release I never once thought that Friends was part of either of the titles. But titles within a collection series being the Friends Collection. Quote:
The One With All The Birthdays: Collectors Edtion These are not Collectors Edition DVDs... so I do not see this as a possibility either.. it does not say Collector's Edition" so it is not appropriate as the rules say they need to be. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I would support the title
"Friends Collection: The One With All the Babies"
with an empty edition field. |
