I guess it was useful to clear up the exemption thing though. |

If you look at the 2 you see clearly the differences. I'm buying UK dvd's so why should I not have a contribution in that discussion, same as I contribute to these localities US, UK, Holland, Belgium, Germany, ... DVD Profiler is an International Program and not Limited to its locality where you live. I'm a world citizen, any problems with that. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | Thailand passed a new ratings system back in December 2007 by the ruling government: P - Promotional, film is educational and viewing is encouraged for all Thai people. G - Suitable for general audiences. Under 13 - Viewers under age 13 not admitted. Under 15 - Viewers under age 15 not admitted. Under 18 - Viewers under age 18 not admitted. Under 20 - Viewers under age 20 not admitted. For a great resource on ratings, I would recommend the wikipedia page on cinema ratings, which cover most countries. |

The one Thai disc in my library happened to have this new P rating: (yes, it really is a photocopy onto generic label paper then applied to the sleeve... while the studio's emblem went to the trouble of using a holographic sticker. ) | | | Last edited: by Cyclograph |

| Posted: | | | | That P. is the initial of the person that approved the licensing of that Film/DVD and gave the order to issue the stamps for licensing No. 00014/48, it's not the rating. Some just put the initials, others sign it. I can provide several examples if you wish, as I have quite some thai DVDs. I have 2 signed by Mr. P as well, 1 signed by Mr. W and all others have full names/signatures. | | | With every passing hour our solar system comes forty-three thousand miles closer to globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules, and still there are some misfits who continue to insist that there is no such thing as progress. |

| Posted: | | | | Wow, always learning something new! Never would have guessed it's not the rating... and certainly otherwise would have incorrectly contributed it as such after the new ratings system came live (forbid they ever also have Mr G. signing off on these too!) |

We have a special situation in germany and the SPIO-Ratings are important. In Germany movies without an approval from the FSK can be confiscated and the Publisher or the merchant could be prosecuted. The SPIO-"Ratings" give an advice that the movie is not against the criminal law even if it doesn't have a FSK approval. We just discuss the ratings in the german Forum and it seems that Valen is the only one who don't want to include the SPIO-"Ratings". |

Quote: I bought Slither some time ago, it says 11 on the cover, on the plastic wrapping it had a sticker that said 15 (later corrected). VET's site says "incorrect rating fixed". So should i recontribute it with a wrong rating? Wouldnt that be against the whole reason why we have ratings in the first place?
The way i see it, its a similar case with the old ones.
An error in the VET's rating decision is a rare exception. I believe that Slither's current rating should be corrected to 15.
Currently you can't buy new DVD's with the old ratings but you probably have some DVDs bought 2000 and earlier. Those DVDs still have the old rating symbol printed on the case. That information is as valuable historical information as scans of the original covers, original SRP and release date.
If and when these new ratings in DVDP come effective, we all have the chance to use only the current ratings locally. I wholeheartedly agree on this. The rules say that we should use the markings from the DVD cover. That alone requires us to use BOTH the old ratings and the new ones. For us to be able to go by the rules, the program should be adapted to allow that - especially as in this case, the inclusion of both the old and new ratings doesn't make the list all too long. Any user who wants to use new ratings for DVD-releases published under the old ratings, should make use of e.g. tags for relevances between the classifications for his/her benefit. I am opposed to any use of new ratings for releases that have ratings of old classification printed on them, and also for any multiselection list for ratings (that user could use the old rating AND a new rating that he/she thinks is relevant to the old one.) | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me.
