Yet its the one i dont need, the ones i would need (or would have been useful to speak) are Swedish, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian. My friend has to often work with foreign people, who usually speak Estonian, Polish or Russia. But not english. Broken english is widely spoken. But to be able to have proper conversation with it isnt that common. And especially in EU being able to just speak some english isnt that useful.

In my experience, if you speak a foreign language with someone, at least one has to be very good with it. One has to be able to figure out what the other one is trying to say. Also the "dominant" language is compleatly related to the region you're in. Go to South America and compare which is better Spanish or english. Go to west africa and see which is better english or french. go to central europe and see which is better french, german or english. In my opinion there is no international language.

Nobody will complain if you post in French, mostly I'm posting in English and sometimes if necessary I post or reply in Dutch. Nobody will hold it against you for asking in French (put in a hint in English so others now what it is about your posting)

I am relatively new to invelos and the DVD Profiler forums. That said, in the short time I have been here, I have observed overall, a generous respect and courtesy to non-English posters, with fellow community members willingly offering assistance to their lingual fellows. Having separate language forums would depreciate the overall community forums in general, with posts for assistance being orphaned in little used forums rather than the overal community being able to offer assistance in a technical forum specific area.

From my own life experience, I am a long-term member of a community radio station. It is quite unique in that it is a ethnic/multicultural broadcasting station with about 5,000 members and broadcast in 52 languages including English. Our lingua franca is English and that is preferred by all our members because English is our currency, regardless of whether we are native English speakers or only have it as our 2nd or even third language.  We use English without fear or embarassment and it generally succeeds in communicating our needs, be it technical, legal (defamation and broadcasting laws) or social. It is often said that we are like 52 little islands with English as our bridge for all of us to use.

We too need to consider these forums as a "community" for one and all, regardless of our ethnicity, language, global location, race, religion or gender or otherwise.

For example, maybe I would like to make a post in a Latin language forum. However, these days I would become either lonely very quickly or very patient waiting for someone out there to reply to my plea for assistance... I think I would rather post it in Latin in the existing forums for my fellow members to see because I know someone fluent in Latin would be more likely to see it there. For those of that do not know Latin, they may develop a grasp of the post or even suggest an answer anyway... that is better than silence which can happen too often with many forums on the internet.
