Skip Nonsense. Dismal science, economics. Not even the best economists know how to play the stock market. They are not even good guessers. 2+2 never equals seven. 2+2 cannot be binary, which only has 0 & 1. A base-3 system has 2s, where 2+2=11. A base-4 system gives us 2+2=10, but all systems with a base greater than 4 give us 2+2=4. Why are there seven spots on a common ladybug? Seven hills of Rome; seven wonders of the world. Seven virtues vs. the seven deadly sins. Seven joys -- seven sorrows. Seven heavens -- seven earths. Buddha waked seven steps at birth. Seven seas. Seven chakras. Seven lucky gods. Seven main islands of Atlantis. 007, (Snow White and the) Seven Dwarfs, Seven Samurai (& Magnificent Seven), Seventh Seal... and Dave Bowman encounters seven octahedra during his journey through the infinite in 2001. Yet, if 2+2=4, 7 is the 4th prime number! | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

However i will say that based on the amount of confusion over the whole title issue the last couple of e of weeks, as borne out by numerous threads on the topic, it would seem that the correctness of position has been PROVEN correct. While the position that was followed has been proven to be a total MESS.
I find it truly sad that people believe that can properly determine much about anyone based on nothing more than what in my case is usually stream of consciousness writings on a forum. Trust me, it reveals next to nothing. I find it truly sad that you believe this has anything to do with this issue. Oh wait, this is the old 'misdirection' trick. As I said before, I am a student of magic and it doesn't work on me. I make my determinations based on your actions, not your words. You say that you do not interpret the data. You say that you 'enter what you see'. Those are false statements. If the title screen reads... John Smith presents The Wonderful Life A Twentieth Century Fox Release ...you ignore everything except "The Wonderful Life", claiming it is not part of the title or, more misdirection, claim it is not "the issue at hand". Skip I am sorry Skip, but no. This is basic math. 2+2=4. Always has, always will. Why? Because those are basic whole numbers. I am sure there was an explanation to follow that question. No professor, in his right mind, would tell you that the number 2 added to the number 2 equals anything but 4. Maybe yous hould have payed better attention to the lesson. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. Back in my college days in the late 60s, a group of the Econ profs in my department at Carnegie Mellon University decided they would invest in the gold market. Even with their combined knowledge of the subject (and mostly they WERE quite good at their profession) all they all managed to do was lose a lot of their savings. My faculty advisor (and her husband) were the only ones in the department who didn't participate in the investment club - and were the only ones who didn't lose any money. Needless to say, the "experts" were more than a little embarrassed.
I know this doesn't have anything to do with the subject of what constitutes or should constitute the Original Title in Profiler, but then I didn't bring up the subject of economics, either. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? | Posted: | | | | BTW, Unicus, I was waiting for you to throw out that FISH. I will repeat what I said when it was first brought up. The TOPIC is possessives...your example has NOTHING to do with possessive (at least part of it) and is only inrtended to misdirect and muddy the water. That would be a separate topic. Feel free to bring it up as such.

Skip Sorry Skip, but no. That was what you wanted it to be about. For the rest of us, the topic was 'DVD Titles'. As I pointed out in my post, that was your attempt at misdirection. Your logic for including possessives was, "I deal with the data in front of me. I do not interpret it." Well, if that were true, you wouldn't have limited yourself to 'possessives'. You would have included ALL the data. That was the fatal flaw in your logic then, and it remains the fatal flaw today. You can keep pretending it isn't so, but we all know better. pdf This topic is of-topic since the first page. This was not a question about the new title rules. This title game is kind of boring ... Why not locking it? The topic opener get his answer in the first page and the rest have nothing to do with the original topic. |
