Skip How is Hal insulting you by pointing out your attitude that you are the only one here that has the right answer? If anyone has the temerity to question your statements, you accuse them of trying to sabotage Profiler and make it IMDBII. That's not an insult, in my opinion. You seem have taken it upon yourself to be the sole arbiter of what constitutes "truth" where it comes to things such as titles, etc. And in order to prevent Profiler from becoming IMDB II you are taking every opportunity to change recognized data elements into something else because the might just resemble what is in IMDB. Just because IMDB show the title of the subject DVD to be "Christine" doesn't necessarily mean it is incorrect. You seem to be spending an inordinate amout of time researching titles with the US Copyright Office to come up with some arcane differences between the recognized titles of films (recognized by most sources, including IMDB) so that you can make the database "more accurate." Sorry, Skip, that just won't wash. I don't want a clone of IMDB, but neither do I want a database built upon exceptions caused by the way films are registered in the US Copyright Office. That is hardly useful. A distinction without a difference. I appreciated your work a whole lot more when you were dealing with useful changes and providing improved images - and not since you started playing Don Quixote tilting at the iMDB windmill. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? I understand, I want things simple, that is the best for EVERYBODY, not the song and dance act that has been started on this subject with ONE objective. The simple answer is the title On the front Cover or On Screen (personally I prefer the screen) that includes Bud and Lou, possessives, etc.(and without all the dancing to try and muddy the waters). We know have a Rule that si ANYTHING but simple, it says use the front cover unless it is...then use this (and we can throw in the verifcation principle). This complicates the entire data entry process, there should be ONE answer and ONE answer ONLY. THIS (whatever this is) is where the data comes from PERIOD, any other answer becomes a local issue. Why did this issue come up to begin with, because for some reason, some users dedcided they didn't like the way the data is presented On Screen or On Cover, they tried to hide begin such NON-issues as it messes up the sort(patently untrue) and they just flat didn't like it and they tried all sorts of spin and various methods to try annd camouflage the real issue which was that they didn't like it, they knew more than the data and the filmmakers and some of them even introduced the Copyright office.

| Posted: | | | | Take the title from the front dvd cover. If there is any doubts with respect to possesives then use the back credit block...there is no way you can screw that up. Very simple and it will work for almost all profiles I'd say. There is no problem here. |

Skip There are more who think like Skip: since 2.5. went, things are more difficult by the day, it seems. I have some movies and I could add Crew & Credits to the profile but I think it's a waste of time since even if your data are on the button, there are people who will vote NO. And NO, thank you, for me it's "schluss". I still think of that French movie from the 30s: alsmost the complete Cast was butchered and all in name of the Common Names craze. |

If you feel things have become more difficult since version 2.5, it's just because some users like to see things their way and insist on others to see it the same way. It's give a little, take a little. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | I have yet to see an example of a problem with the rule on titles for 99.9% of users. It really is very simple | | | |
