| Posted: | | | | Maybe it is just me.... but just saying the name of the company isn't exactly sourcing your information. OK... yes maybe for the well known companies it could be that easy. but then you also have a lot of companies out there that most of us never heard of before.
Just looking at a name of a company certainly doesn't tell me where it is located at. I would say make the company name a link to the about page to the companies website... I would think that would usually tell you where they are located at. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry - I probably used a bad example - you're quite right that the lesser known companies should have some supplementary data. My example was mainly to be used for the "obvious" ones. |

| Posted: | | | | What you have to keep in mind is what is obvious to some may not be obvious to others.
I personally am a big fan of Buffy and Angel so I knew right away who Mutant Enemy is.
But when contributing how do I know who the voters and who Gerri and Ken know? So best bet even though there is some that seems completely obvious... and probably are for all true movie lovers... but best bet is to source them all as if Gerri and Ken have never heard of any of them. My way of thinking... better safe then sorry... and a name is a name... but a source is a source. | | | Pete |

Hm, my sources were in the same way nothblokes are: "Studio XY is first credited and the main studio and it's located in YZ so YZ is the CoO" for the obvious one. But you are right: Who defines what is obvious? So it is better to give a source even for the obvious ones (and after a while we have enough sources, than it's only copy&paste). And we should only fill out the CoO field when there is one CoO, not if the movie is an international co-production |

LOL just puzzled for a while re the film 'About A Boy'
4 production companies
* Kalima Productions GmbH & Co. KG - GERMAN * Studio Canal - FRENCH * Tribeca Productions - AMERICAN * Working Title Films - BRITISH
Was puzzling about how too contribute the coo until I read this thread! |

Seriously though...YES. Peter Jackson is Kiwi. His production company WingNut Films is Kiwi. WingNut Films produced King Kong. Therefore CoO is New Zealand.
But still no one has the balls to contribute NZ for the three LOTR movies If someone wants to argue CoO for LoTR is US, then make sure that person also marks CoO for Spider-Man 1, 2, and 3 as Japan. | | | My Home Theater |

As far as I can remember, it has now been accepted that the COO for all the LOTR movies is New Zealand. Its certainly shown as such on one of my copies. | | | Paul |

We definitely do! Or... we could just add a Nationality sub-field for every Studio we add (in the "Edit Studios" window) ;D | | | -- Enry |
