Yes, if they are clearly exact copies, they should be removed before resubmitting.

Well there you go....my worst fears realised. I hope that this doesn't produce an avalanche of contributions removing data like the CoO contributions. I better start locking profiles in my local DB now I think.

You're worrying too much. That won't happen. This only applies to profiles that are clear "carbon copies" from IMDB... exact same names, roles, spellings, misspellings, punctuation, etc.

All people should do is apply the standards that I described to their data, that said, however I would also urge great caution in this area because it is such an easy area to insert fraudulent data. "A" list actors I think we are safe, if we see Tom Cruise or George Lucas, no problem time stamp and out. "B" list becomes a bit more problematic and should require a bit more documentation in addition to a time stamp or screen cap, there are a lot of possibilities for documentation, a name I have used frequently in this area is Character Actress Kathleen Freeman, how many of us can summon up a mental picture of her, besides me. Probably most of us would say WHO? So when we get to "C" list actors, now we have real difficulties you are talking about near total or total unknowns, which will in all likelihood be near impossible to document( and that means beyond IMDb).

Don't bet on it.

There are some in this community that have just been waiting for a reason to delete uncredited cast.

Just watch and see!

It's quite easy to tell if the uncredited entries are carbon copied from IMDB. Vote no to people who are blatantly wiping data just because they don't like "uncredited."

I'll reiterate it here - if the source of the data is not immediately evident, there's no reason to remove uncredited entries.  However, if (for instance), the data is a carbon copy of IMDB or any other third party database, that is enough reason to remove it.  When removing it, be specific in your contribution notes so we don't pass it over.

Thanks Ken.  That is what I was trying to get at...but obviously wasn't doing a good enough job of.  There is a difference between "I think it came from IMDb" and "it is an exact copy of IMDb data".
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Thank you, sir, for backing up what I've been saying all along.  I still think 99% of 'uncredited' data is junk, and will continue to remove it in my local, but I can live with it in the online per your ruling above.

What's the problem?  That's what locks are for.  Just keep in mind that I'm NOT the only one who doesn't like 'uncredited' out there.

And I wouldn't expect an avalanche of updates over this.  As we come across them, sure, but I'm certainly not going to start a search and destroy mission.  I welcome the clarification though.
