| | Posted: | | | | I can see the good and bad of both ways, but I have the Buffy complete series and I DO NOT want 41 profiles for Buffy. The program will not currently allow this, but to me, the best way to handle something like this is to create a master profile for the main box. Create child profiles for each season, and then have a tab for each disc on the child profiles. For example, season 2 would be one profile with 6 tabs for each season 2 disc on that profile. When you click on the tab for disc 2, you would see all the info for disc 2. This way, you could keep track of how the season is packaged and with what is on each disc and you would not have 41 profiles.
This would also work for single seasons like Stargate Atlantis season 2 where you have 5 discs in 3 thin cases. Each thin case would be a child profile. Profile 1 and 2 would have 2 tabs for each disc and profile 3 would have one tab for one disc. |

No, my reasoning is based on experience working with databases for a lot of years, both as user and designer. Its based on some hard lessons in practicality learned using some very large and very complicated databases, and knowing that ironclad standards of data entry must be maintained or the information IN the database is worthless. And its based on ease of handling for display purposes so that people who don't know how databases are built or function can make real world use of the data in them.
