Launched, 6 June 1944 Commissioned USS LCI(L)-694, 13 June 1944 During World War II USS LCI(L)-694 was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Following World War II USS LC(L)-694 performed occupation duty in the Far East, 18 to 22 October 1945 Decommissioned, date unknown and laid up in the Pacific Reserve Fleet, Bremerton, WA. Reclassified Coastal Minesweeper (Underwater Locator) AMCU-18 and named Chaffinch, 7 March 1952 Conversion to AMCU-18 began, 21 September 1953 at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Bremerton, WA., and completed, 12 April 1954 Chaffinch was never recommissioned Final Disposition, sold, 28 April 1960, fate unknown |

| Posted: | | | | Photographed circa 1919, after removal of her World War I armament. Among the modifications she received during her Naval service was the addition of an enclosed pilot house. U.S. Navy photo NH 100885 Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships History: Cossack (No. 695), a motorboat, was purchased by the Navy, placed in service on 1 May 1917, and assigned to the 1st Naval District. She conducted patrols in the Boston section until October 1918 when she transferred to the 3d Naval District. Cossack was stricken from the Navy List on 27 March 1919 and on 22 November was turned over to the Coast Guard. | | | Last edited: by railroaded |
