BTW : do you know which in which database system is stored the collection ? when writing a plugin, do you have access to the DB and read tables ?

Thanx.

I think some people know what the technology is, but I don't. I just use the API. You cannot access the database directly - it is proprietary and encrypted for obvious reasons. Developers are precluded from discussing details outside of the development forum. I think, so far, I am within those rules. I do hope that you gain access. Seems you will be a valuable contributor to the community.

Oh, and thanks for the info. I think I have that stuff downloaded, but haven't taken the time to learn it.
Thanks for your support.

mediadogg : Thank you for the information. I will NOT ask you more information about this; I don't want you to be mismatched with invelos. I will re-submit my request.

To all others:
New version A 0.04 is out for alpha testers. Just fixed some bugs, and waiting for import / update speeds. Please report me full import(with 'clear database' checked) and update only. Give me times and collection size.

This version also include the possibility to view your collection as pictures.

I will now concentrate about the copy of pictures & collection.xml on the device. I'm not sure that all devices have a /sdcard directory, and if not, can it be viewed as removable drive on the PC or do I have to use ADB to copy on them. After this, it will be an beta version open to everyone.

Cheers,

Olivier.

Welp I didn't dump the DB just installed the new app and Tile view works well, a small lag on the scrolling when going fast.

When I get a break here at work I'll do a DB clear and re import the existing xml file.

Installed the new version. import took slightly under 2min for my collection of 625. Cover mode view worked fine for me. response is not to bad on my Galaxy S2. A slider to skip to a certain letter would be nice.

DW, read the first post.

All the info should be there for getting in on the testing.

I just made a small werbsite for this. You can find it here :

www.olivier-detry.be/ddvdp

I'm also new to html, css, ... so please don't be too sarcastic about it

It's best viewed with firefox. IE has some problem, and with my evo 3D also. I'll try to fix that later and focus now on the software. If someone wants to make a better site for me, let me know.

The public beta release will come soon.

You might want to check out my InstantExport plugin (in the downloads section)... there is even a chance it deals with the euro problem (I can't remember for sure though).

Thank you for the information.

I've installed the plugin, and it seems to work fine. But the Euro sign is still encoded in a wrong way.

...snip...
Olivier.

I'll look into an updated version that fixes the euro sign, not sure when I'll get around to do it though.
...snip ...

I finally got around to look at the encoding, and I can't see any problems - but maybe I managed to get confused with my source control so I am not actually looking at the released version if InstantExport (though I doubt it, I remember working on this as I found a defect in the .NET Framework - that doesn't happen every day).

This is an example of a fragment including an attribute with a eurosign written by InstantExport:
<SRP DenominationType="EUR" DenominationDesc="Europe (Euro)" FormattedValue="€8.99">8.99</SRP>

As far as I recall, writing the € as € was done to generate a file that was valid XML and at the same time was less likely to break with a tool written to work with the incorrect XML generated directly by DVD Profiler (I think I had an example of such a tool at the time, but do not remember the details).

After the small list and tile list, I will implement a detailed list.

Which fields would you like to see in this ?

Olivier.

Hi there !
I just tested the application, it works well
It took me 60s to load my 300 movies db.

Fields that could be interesting in detailed view : director, production year, last viewed, purchase date.
In fact, it could be cool to allow all kind of informations to be displayed, with a little menu to choose which ones we want to see :D just like in the collection list window of DVD Profiler.

I've now access to the plugin section.

I will try it. I think the next step is to build the Android database on the pc and just transfer it to the device. It will be faster and easier. I've seen on xda-developpers that they made a .net framework to access the device when connected to the PC. I just need the file find/copy, but it seems to be very hard to understand (165mb of sources ). There may be some times before next alpha release ...

I've made some test with export. Here are the results :

My plugin is now begining to work :
- it is recognized by DVD Profiler
- it has an entry in the plugin menu
- it can access all your collection

Of course, it is not finished yet, but it exports some informations at an incredible speed. it should be less that 30 seconds for 316 DVDs with full cast and crew (without time to copy to device, but it should be only a few more seconds).

Finally, the next version with the plugin may come faster than expected (with manual db copy to device).

The plugin directly make a SQLite database that can be copied to the device.

If I manage to make a connection from PC to device to directly update the db from pc, it should be faster. The code for droid explorer (http://de.codeplex.com/) is hard to understand, and I have to contact them to be sure I can use their code in my app. If yes, it could become really great (modesty )

I think at this moment the app will leave alpha test and become public beta version.

I'll keep you informed.

Regards,

Olivier.

Good news, glad you are working on the plug in.

As to the new Alpha

Just under 1000 dvd's in the exported collection and DB built in about 1m45s on The Evo 4g

DB file is right around 1.6mb on the SD card

All seems good

hello

I installed the latest version.
2min30 for 3650 dvd
everything is ok
but problem to transfer images, very, very long and I never got to the end ... it is true that it's a lot of files ...
Is it possible to put them on the sd_external card? (it would be easier to copy the images separately to Galaxy)

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and a 8 go sd_ external card

many thanks at kitarolivier !!!!
