All I get from it is people who decided that the on-screen credited didn't need to be contributed anymore if initials were involved. So you missed the part where Ken came in and decided, on his own, without any suggestions or discussions, to implement a filter for initials? Quote: one of your posts in that thread -

| Posted: | | | | A single name field also removes some functionality of the existing program, which I would not support. Combining First Name and Middle Name fields would be a compromise that I could support, but like I said, what's really needed is a new linking system that actually works. | | | Hal |

Actor: Will.I.Am
When I contribute a profile with him it makes Will. I. Am [Will.I.Am].
Is it correct when I correct this in my local database to Will. I. Am [Will.I.Am] and contribute it then? In my opinion: YES. It's not only a display question leaving it local as it is, right? Because when I do not correct it local I will get it at least when I download a profile of a new bought film and then I have a mess in my local database.

Will.I.Am is Will.I.Am and NOT Will. I. Am. What difference does it make? It will display as Will.I.Am because of the Credited As field. --------------- |

--------------- because it is a stagename Will.i.am it should be in the first name field and the auto-filter is making a fictional name. If you have the auto-filter name in the database, when you type in Will.i.am you get no results. You have to type in the incorrect name now. anybody try AC/DC yet. does it become AC / DC | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

--------------- but the whole name is Will.i.am. His real name is William Adams. and his stage name is a play on William (add the periods). |

| Posted: | | | | From the rules: "If an actor name is only a first name or stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cher, Madonna, Cedric the Entertainer & Queen Latifah." |

| Posted: | | | | At the moment I'm not sure this filter is adding benefit overall. Since it will be superseded by future functionality changes, I've (at least for now) disabled it.
Further, I've restricted the middle name filter (creation of a middle name out of two first initials in the first name) to only operate if the middle name is empty and the last name is not empty. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative | | | Last edited: by Ken Cole |
