You should try to attack others  (which you never did  : that explains why you never got stars...  ).

I suppose I just find it funny that some people think it is completely disrespectful (and I am trying not to be) for some of us to expect the rules to be updated as posts are made by the rule setters.

Let me be very clear on this point...I don't think it is completely disrespectful to expect the rules to be updated with all the clarifications.  Unrealistic, yes.  Disrespectful, no.  Most of us have tried, more times than I can count, to get this done.  Have a look through the rules forum.  You will find many discussions, followed by polls, concerning rule changes.  Very few have made it into the rules.

If you lot, from DVDSpot, think you will have better luck, then, by all means, give it a go.  As long as you aren't a TOTAL jackass, cocky, arrogant and don't show a complete disregard for peoples feelings, most of us old timers will be happy to participate...just don't expect us to have the same enthusiasm as you do.  Ten years of history is hard to forget.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Don't get me wrong, I can be a TOTAL jackass. In fact, in real life, my sales business is only where it is because of my cocky arrogance and disregard for peoples feelings. I am a cock. It's a character trait.

But instead of saying lock it, people should just be happy that at least some users will fight for change. I like it here, I like the users (most of) and have a lot of respect for the 'old-timers' (especially those still here and the passion they have) and what they have managed to do and the database available. I love the helpfullness of the other users, the headshot database (which I have given back to and will continue to) and surfeurs movie screenshot thread (currently working through, and will then give back to) are two examples of what the community can do. The layouts and plug-ins open a huge range of possibilities and the actual program is 100% awesome (offline anyway ).

I suppose I just find it funny that some people think it is completely disrespectful (and I am trying not to be) for some of us to expect the rules to be updated as posts are made by the rule setters.

Anyway, that is my entire feelings on everything.

Well your an honest a cock but a cocks still a cock. Perhaps while it's been the benefit in your financial success in other matters it has hindered your life.

I am surprised on a daily basis how it is you have 15,000+ posts but no stars.

It's mind boggling, really.

Thats fine, you expect nothing to be done so just sit there and make no attempt to get something done because you've tried in the past (and I respect this). At least respect that some of us are not disillusioned (yet) and there is no harm in attempting to.

As a bit of background, several of us had the exact same problem at Spot. You know what? Nothing got done, but we tried very hard for years. I can say to myself that I tried my hardest to help get things done and bring things to the attention of CNET. I don't regret a second of it. If I'm still doing it here in 3 years time, then I'm still doing it. At least I'll know I've tried.

Excuse me? I'll think you'll find my stars have come from getting green arrows in CONTRIBUTING to the headshot database through hard work. Do I think I deserve more respect? Hell no, but I deserve SOME respect, as do you. Please find one insulting post I have made in this thread.

Actually I don't think Martian was saying that at all, but leave it to you to come in and add an insult to it.

Why you feel that something that hasn't worked before just should be given up on is beyond me. Things change. Like others have said, it saddens me that veterans around here (some) have completely given up on the idea of change and others (a few) want to completely shut them up.

And btw Skip, your reasons for wanting this thread locked could be said for just about 50% of the threads on these forums...but I don't think trying to improve things around here constitutes the same treatment.

Just a bit more, yes Spot ended up closing but this was because CNET bought the site to incorporate the database into another site.

Sorry martian, not directed at you, but moreso Skip. I think you have been the most honest and understanding of the 'oldtimers'. I can see why you can't show the enthusiasm.
