| Posted: | | | | I just love wqhen someone starts a political and then others exercis their Reputation Votes for someone they disagree with politivcally. So let me be very clear, I consider the democratic Party to be one of the single most danngerous entities in the United States today, they behave like willful children and have absolutely no concept of the meaning of the coinstitution and call it a living breathing document that is subject to their interpretation of the moment. The vaunted US President FDR was in reality a disaster, it was not he who saved this country from a depression, iun fact the actions taken by his administratioin took a recession and turned into a nightmare, it was World War II that snapped this country out of its depression, I do not necessarily condone war, but that is the FACT.
As I said earlier, I am hopeful regarding President Obama, but I am highly skeptical, watchful and vigilant as anyone who loves the liberty of this country must be. Socialism has been tried so many different times worldwide and in many different ways, including in the earliest days of this country, it has NEVER succeeded anywhere, and socialistic policies if they are generated by this administration will not break the long and pathetic attempts at social engineering generated by socialism. So, in closing, I wish President Obama success but NOT if his intent proves to be to follow the tendencies that his past record indicates, and should he follow that side of his nature I will resist with every fiber of my being.
And that's the way it IS. Good luck, sir, please prove me wrong.

| Posted: | | | | It's really funny. When I started this thread, I was VERY careful not to make any political statement (as I don't think a DVD software forum is the place for it) and to merely extend my best wishes and hopes to both the US and the world at large - because I think at this point in world history we could ALL do with a bit of good fortune.
But then already I was thinking "I wonder how long it will take the good DVDP forum regulars to derail the thread and turn it into a political debate / rant / whatever. (You MAY regard this as a psychological experiment...)
And yes, of course, after no more than about 3 replies this is exactly what happened.
You guys are soooooooo predictable... |

It becomes a herculean challenge not to role your eyes a little after this last 8 years, to read how dangerous those commie democrats are. |

| Posted: | | | | I suppose due to the continued and repeated abuse of the reputation system,; I had better start practicing. La, la, la
1. Unbreakable union of freeborn republics Great Amerika has welded forever to stand! Created in struggle by will of the peoples United and mighty, our Amerikan land!
CHORUS:
Sing to the Motherland, home of the free, Bulwark of people, in brotherhood strong! Oh! Party of Obama! The strength of the people. To Democratic's triumph lead us on!
2. Through tempests the sun rays of freedom have cheered us Along the new path where great FDR did lead! To a righteous cause he raised up the people Inspired them to labour and valorous deed!
CHORUS
3. In the victory of Democratic's deathless ideal, We see the future of our dear land And to her fluttering scarlet banner, selflessly true, we always shall stand!
Sarcastic....you betcha!
It is a sad day indeed when one is not permitted to express his opinion. Do I hear the echoes of the (un)Fairness Doctrine!

His comprehensive policy agenda can now be found here. That is his agenda...a list of what he wants to do. While a nice read, it still doesn't change the fact that he hasn't done a thing yet. When Schwarzenegger ran for Governor of California, he ran on a platform of change. He had great ideas that, if implimented, would have done a lot of good for our state. Unfortunately, being an actor, he was a tad naive when it came to politics. The Democrats, and quite a few 'special interest groups', did everything they could to torpedo his changes. They didn't care about the state, all they cared about were themselves. Now, we are faced with a budget shortfall of $16 billion. Some analysts predict that it will swell to $28 billion through June 2010. My point? "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." You guys can get as excited as you want. Me, I will hold my applause until he actualy gets something done. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. But, it seems fairly clear, that he has been getting red arrows for his posts in this thread. He is talking to the people who are handing them out. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
