Reordered Audio Tracks to match DVD (Power DVD)
Cast and Crew per DVD End credits

As mostt users do he uses PowerDVD to read Audio, BUT he doesn't show any understanding of what PowerDVD shows. Yes, PowerDVD show one track as DD 2.0 which both he and the existing data assume neans STEREO, when DD 2,0 CAN be Mono, Stereo or even DD2.0 SURROUND. This is a 2008 released movie, anyone want to bet that the track is DD 2.0 Surround and NOT DD 2.0 Stereo.

His Cast and Crew data show a Common name use which is perfectly useable but there is NO explanation why and all it is system handling of initials versus ACTUAL Credit. He uses system Roles which do not obviously match the actual credits, many times as we all know they won't, so why not list the Roles which depart from ACTUAL role and what the Actual Role is, doesn't thqat provide both the voter and the screener more complete information, let alone 6 months from now any of us would have a much better picture of exactly what was done and WHY.

Skip

First, you are right, I don't have the equipment to properly ID a 2.0 track.  I said that I reordered, not corrected.  By the way, according to Universals websight it is a Dolby 2.0 stereo DVS track (For visually impaired).

You are right, I probably should have included the reason for the Credited as for J. G. Jones (That was slip from me.)

By the way you missed one, I forgot to include the notes for Morgan Freeman's BY.  I don't usually miss that one.

As far as the rest, I stated they were as per the end credits, as apparently you agree with,  I keep the print out of the table in front of me to make sure I am using the correct form for the credit.  In the end they are as credited.

And if you disagree, I do make mistakes, and have gone back and corrected errors I make, I am not that proud.

If you would like me to write an essay, that isn't going to happen.  If the screeners or programmers would like more information, I will start to provide that.  But to go and put all the variances that are allowed by the rules into the contribution notes for an initial cast and crew submission is a bit much.

Now on the other hand, if I was submitting a change to a existing crew member like for the Story By credit, then I will explain the change.

By the way Danae, I thank you, I was unaware that it was a single series of Comics.

I'm going to go back to trusted users.

I think everyone agrees that notes need to be reasonably well detailed. That's a given.

However, I personally feel that the amount of people who actually DO contributions is very, very small when compared to the actual amount of users for this program. I feel that most users are happy to let others do the work - largely due to the fact that the contribution rules are way too long and complicated.

I'm happy to say that my contributions are pretty much 100% accepted and my notes are NOT as detailed as some people would like them. But, the ARE detailed enough to let people see what changes I made and why, eg:

ADDED:
3.5 Crew (By for Richard Taylor is to differentiate him from the Richard Taylor who is a sound editor on such TV shows as Earth 2).

CORRECTED:
Publisher to correct field.
Role: the ring to Voice of the Ring as credited.

Information taken from box/disc/credits/internet research in accordance with contribution rules.

The above note gives enough details IMO without betting totally anal. So far there is not a single NO vote. This is also the usual format my notes are in and Gerri doesn't seem to have a problem with them.

I just went through my voting que. Cleared out close to 100 titles. I found 6 where the notes could have been better. Of those 3 were certainly not going to get by Invelos, based on the numerous NO votes received (many citing the lack of documentation).

Of the 3 left 2 of them had at least one or two NO votes due to lack of good notes. The last one had a couple of suggestions in the notes as to how the contributor could do better next time.

So, the system does work IMO. The diligent voters (like those posting here) already do not let these contributions get by without pointing out the lack of proper notes. Some may slip pass, but we all know sometimes bizarre things slip past and get into the db.

The one thing in common the 6 submissions had was none of the contributors were forum regulars. Most likely the are unaware or perhaps do not care about the requirements. Either way they are most likely not reading this. This whole thread is like preaching to the choir. Unless Invelos does something official (and first they have to feel something needs to be done) talking about it is like resisting the Borg.

I know you understand nothing about discussing something, Rick, particularly if I am the one discussing it. I am so impressed that you cleared a 100 votes, I have 200 or 300 waitingb right now...good grief. I am as impressed about your do nothing attitude as you are about my do something attitude, which is to say I am NOT.

I have seen the happy medium, xradman, complete with those that believe something is better than nothing even if the user used IMDb. I ahve also had to come behind and correct this gatbage and garbage is what it is. The "happy medioum" is nothing more than laziness, both on the part of the Contributing user and the voting user who is willing to accept whatever. Sorry I won't do it and i won't condone it and say that's OK, it is not OK.

Upto the point at which I decided to largely stop Contributing, I had spent somewhere close to 10,000 hours of my timne providing the best data for YOU and the Community that I knew how to provide. yet you want to make that a one way street, you want to gfive me garbage while i give you the best. NO...I expect the same from YOU that I give to YOU. Nothing less.

Skip

Bully for you, and thank you for all your time however not everyone has 10,000 hours to devote to this hobby. Even if they had the time my guess is very few would spend it correcting profiles. Again, you are on the far extremest end of everything DVDP. To expect the general public to conform to your ideals is not realistic.

Ken himself said:

DVD Profiler must walk a fine line between enough accuracy to keep one side of the aisle happy while maintaining ease of use and entry to keep the other, generally somewhat silent and large majority happy.
(bold added by me)

Invelos knows their customer base. I trust them to know what they want with their program as well. If they are OK with the state of the contribution notes (generally speaking) then it is not up to us to demand the create stricter rules for creating these notes. If Ken or Gerri wan'ts something different they are certainly capable of making it happen.

Couldn't have said this better, I completely agree with you, this is a hobby and this is not rocket science, a contribution should be accurate but it should not be the guide to build a space ship.
Also, a funny thing is, Skip who started this thread, who wants überaccuracy, doesn't even contribute much himself.
Skip, for 99 % here, this is fun, fun where you get away from your usual work where there is a boss who tells you what to do.
That doesn't mean that we do not need rules, but all is fine as it is now. There is NO NEED of any more regulation.

cheers

I wasn't saying it to impress anyone.    I was saying it to address the topic at hand. Out of the 100 I had only 6 were even close to fitting what you call the problem and of those 6 most likely only 1 MIGHT slip through.

Again, not trying to impress anyone. Just stating an opinion.

As usual though since it doesn't agree with your opinion you have to attack. Anytime someone disagrees with you you get so freggin defensive. Disagreeing with someone doesn't constitute an attack, telling them they are "simplistic" and "understand nothing about discussing something" most certainly is.

Neither nor Rick have any understanding here. But then rick doesn't contribute more than a few a year and that's fine. We all need to work together as a team in order to produce the best possible product for ourselves and for others. Laziness serves no one well. Have  said more regulation...NO. What have i said. I have seen and pointed out a problem and called on all of us to do better. My personal opinion, you want to be lazy, then be lazy and do nothing at all. But that is my opinion, instead I am asking all of us to look at what we are doing and what we are trying to achieve and work better for ALL, not just for YOU or for ME, or even for Rick.

Many usesr write wonderful Contribution notes, I have even seem some super notes from Newbies. Myself WHEN I chosse to Contribute I am always looking for ways to make my notes ever better and clear, I am trying to communicate with all users, being short in my notes achieves NOTHING. Whe I can be brief, such as Disc ID from the Disc (so much the better) but this is not always true.

Like i said, I am not asking for more regulation, if you want to be lazy that is your business, i will say that the quality of notes, for me, dictates how hard i feel i have to look at the product. If you want to be helpful great, if you don't that's your issue.

You are very good at insults and patronizing yourself, Rick. Most of you posts are pretty insulting.

Frankly I agree with your last comment 150%.

BTW Rick it is your consistent behavior and that of some others that leads to comments like "particularly if I am the one discussing it." You can be counted on for a negative reply 99.9% of the time, when you decide to involve yourself.

This is completely nonsense.
You call me lazy ? I contribute like crazy and I think 99% of my contributions are fine.
You simply do not get it, that this here is for most of us FUN, a HOBBY, time spent nicely.

You seem to think this here is the US Army, where people have to follow commands, anyways, i will continue to do my stuff here like I always did, you will not change this.

Even to your standards, this is low, Rick is one of the most helpful and nicest guys here in this community. Why do you think he has 2 stars and you don't have one, huh ?

Stop insulting people here, you are the only one with this attitude in those forums. You need to learn that your own opinion isn't always the right one.

Because you are a valued member of the community with lots to offer.  Don't let one person get under your skin and chase you away.  Simply block that user and deal with the people you feel give you the respect you deserve.

Please note, this is not a dig at Skip or anybody else.  This is general advice that I would give regardless of the people involved.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
