Isn't it amazing how friendly and argument-free the thread would be if you only took one factor (Skip's posting) out of it?

Now If you don't comprehend the meaning of that Nadja. Then let me spell it out for YOU so that you will be absolutely CLEAR and perhaps even apologize for yoir previously stupid comments.

Let's see.... how to explain this so even a 4 year old will understand it.
Whether or NOT they available in ANY kind of quantity is not RELEVANT. What is relevant is is availability PERIOD, is there some serious depth involved or a mere smattering of titles. Beynd the refernce made by Neill, the evidence indicates  a limited number of titles, but Neill says there are HUNDREDS and I am fine with that.

I ended with a question, accepting Neill's comment, about what the name should be and a statement that for now they remain Custom.

Did I make that CLEAR ENOUGH for you, Nadja. SHEEESH, do yoiu just live to be a nag.   Maybe i need to use smaller words.

What are you ON, Skip? How the hell does ANY of that apply to me drawing a simliarity between HD Keeps and Handle Cases?

Perhaps it's
about time you started making the effort to understand what people are ACTUALLY saying, instead of looking for the excuse to blast off into a temper tantrum. I told surfeur yesterday that he was dead wrong about this place being unfriendly and unfairly aggressive, but you sure make it a hard argument to press!

What does that have to do with me drawing a similirity between handle cases and HD Keeps?

So why can't I draw a further (more contemporary and similiar) comparison?

Which were? Perhaps you can point them out. I fact, I insist!

Whether or NOT they available in ANY kind of quantity is not RELEVANT.

Of course it is! It ABSOLUTELY is! There's no point adding a case type unless it sees some level of mass distribution among a diverse selection of titles, elsewise custom would be appropriate. If there's only one title, or perhaps one set, then it's unique to that title, and need not go further than custom. That is NOT the case here, not that I've weighed in on the argument beyonds a thumbs-up.

Or are you still equating these things with the Apes head or the Seinfeld Fridge?

Quote:

Well which is it? it is whether there is availability PERIOD, or are you considering market penetration? You can't have it both ways. Even a four-year-old could tell you that!

Again, why does that prevent me from drawing a further simliarity?

It's not the size of the words, it's putting them together in some sort of logical order that seems to be giving you trouble. Although every little helps.

LOL, Nadja, now I get to ask do you even read what you write, let alone what I write.. Did i say anything about HD keeps, WHAT in your post do you think I might find objectionable, that drew the response from me. Maybe the whole concept that you for some reason felt it necessary parrot what i said in different words. And why are HD keeps relevant to he discussion, they are no more relevant than Handle cases seemingly not being in use in the US is.

In view of the fact that had stated that availability in the US was not relevant and then you essentially repeated what i said but added the additionally irrelevant info about HDKeeps, what was the purpose of a comment that to me appeared to be utterly inane and intended as some sort of strange shot at me, now i grant you nadja, that this may be colored by history, but your comment just seemed ridiculous and insulting. You should probably have made clear exactly what you were doing.

As usual your post is combative in nature and you wonder why i respond as I did to you. Perhaps the problem is that you have no idea of logical order, not being American, what is logical to me clearly is not to you. I will suggest a different approach is in order, I am not combative by nature, but i will not shrink from it. However it does seem to be in your nature. I know how to communicate quite well, thank you very much but there would appear some sort of cultural barrier.

I saw what you said to surfeur and you were absolutely right, it is what you make it. And evidently i was not clear that you were ADDING to what I said and not simply repeating it for some reason. Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part.

I did a little bit of looking around last night and this morning, and as well as "Handle Case" these are sometimes also referred to as:
Carry Case
Kids <sic> Carry Case
Kidz Carry Case
Carrying Case

(Based purely on a search for handle case on their site) EzyDVD have:
349 Handle Case titles
242 of which are distributed by ABC (non-commercial government station who do loads of children's programming).

(Based on a search for carry case) Play.com have:
87 releases (visually confirmed)

In the US there appear to be some:
DVDPacific.com
From Amazon.com:
Hi-5
"The Land Before Time" TV series & Curious George

Amazon.de
Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!)

These cases are definitely cropping up here in the States.  I work in a basically backwaters place, and we have them where I work.

Clifford.

Hi-5.

Hi-5 is actually a series, all in this type of case, which we've received at least 3 or 4 volumes of.

Thanks LJG.  Your local knowledge shows that these are even more prominent than I had realised (since the links you provided don't even use the term "carrying case" in the DVD description).  It looks like the Hi-5 and Clifford titles are in carry cases in Japan too (checked Amazon.co.jp).

Looks like a strong case to me. These should be added as a standard case type.

I would suggest someone in these regions where it is becoming common to take the link ninehours posted and perhaps find some more examples and make it a feature request.

Looks like you have plenty of examples. Just need to move it to the request forum.

(Or maybe even try to slip it into the beta forum. Adding a case type should be an easy thing to do)

Since I started this topic, I've posted a request that a new case type be added to the "Feature Request" forum.

Thanks to those of you who added meaningfully to this discussion, revealing the increasing use of this format around the world.

Cheers,

Michael
