How about that movie about the killer sheeps? "Black Sheep" I think it is called? Isn't that a Australian movie?

Nope, New Zealand(ish?).

Another TV (mini-)series that I thought was Australian seems mostly to have been filmed in California; The Thorn Birds.

Kathy, Kathy, Kathy... we can so easily inundate you with stuff you've missed though.  Here's some while I wake up

Movies
Reckless Kelly
Mr. Accident
Under the Radar
The Craic
Strange Bedfellows (remade as I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry IIRC)
Australian Rules
Beneath Clouds
Looking for Alibrandi

TV
Hey... Dad
All Together Now
A Country Practise
Kingswood Country
Micallef Tonight
Shaun Micallef
The Micallef Programme
Water Rats
City Homicide
Jimeoin
Countdown
Rage
The Ferals

Oh, and Full Frontal is a later incarnation of Fast Forward, with a few other variations also made.  Also, I don't know what format, but stuff like Blinky Bill and Dot and the Kangaroo gets made repeatedly.

Australian DVD list... and remember that there's a lot of stuff that'd be OOP, or that has only had overseas releases.

Since Shaun Micallef is so cool, I thought I'd post some Youtube clips for you poor, unfortunate foreigners

Polite distances (for holding the door for someone) (Shaun Micallef)

David McGahan's World - Cats (Shaun Micallef)

Oh, and some early Eric Bana in one of his most popular roles (as Poida)

Olympic Training Tips with Peter

...and if anyone's interested in a more recent sketch comedy series, check out some of the "Chopper" sketches that the Ronnie John's Show did.... if you're not averse to some coarse language.  Search Youtube for harden up australia
This guy was at the last Fringe here in Adelaide (in character), and will be appearing again at this year's Fringe.

Oz TV on my wishlist:
Frontline (comedy, aired here on PBS as "Breaking News" because PBS already has a news show called "Frontline")
Thank God You're Here (the original Oz version is much much much better than the US version)

Not buying the 174-disc complete Prisoner: Cell Block H.

Point taken!

Really funny stuff (glad I wasn't drinking coffee when watching those). How would I found that on DVD?

Here are some Australian DVD sites.  If you search for Micallef, you should find some of his stuff.  Sorry, but I don't know which of his shows (he has had about three, and he also worked on Fast Forward/Full Frontal), but my guess would be The Micallef Program (with different spelling each season).

Ezy DVD
Atlantic DVD
JB Hi-Fi
Sanity
Chaos
Vidz of Oz

Atlantic and JB tend to have good prices in my experience, but shop around.  You can always try eBay too.  Some New Zealand sites probably have them too.

A Skippy parody (from Fast Forward)

I assume "my guess" means, that that is the one I should be going for.

I found a complete set with all three seasons, which appears to be a better deal than buying the seasons separately. I am gonna trust the the two videos and your comment "unfortunate foreigners" and order that one...

Thanks a lot.

I want a release of Charles Chauvels' seminal classic, 40,000 Horsemen, which was based on the Australian Light Horses' exploits in the Middle East (including the battle for Beersheba; the last great cavalry charge) in The Great War. Charles Chauvel father, General Harry Chauvel served with the Light Horse in The Great War. He also went on to make The Rats of Tobruk, another great film.

Spare a thought leading up to Australia Day or those who are flood-affected in Western Queensland at present. We have a man-sized flood on here in Queensland (an Australian State). The flood is currently covering 1.2 million square kilometres.

Now that the day (Australia Day) has arrived, I not only have forgotten a few times, but I'm also a little nonplussed.  I think part of it is that I'm still in Friday mode, part that the gf is working tomorrow, and part that the day I get off work isn't today (though I don't work weekends).  Perhaps I'll wake up feeling differently (and chuck on Frogstomp).

Happy Australia Day everybody. To quote an old commercial "Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars" (football doesn't really apply at the moment, It's summer). It's Cricket weather and the test match is on so I'm outta here to watch it!
