| Posted: | | | | Not at all, Hal. i have said REPEATEDLY when Ken gives us standards and criteria for determining this I will happily tag along. I am not interested in anything that is user-defined, as there will be no agreement and endless discussions and arguments as has been proved repeatedly. Not ot mention the unnecessary insults and attacks that some specialize in, hal, Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Weren't the contribution rules user-defined? Wasn't the cover type images thread set up by a user? What's wrong with trying to come up with a way to deal with common names so we can then approach Ken and see if he likes it or not? I'd much rather Ken spends his time improving the program than worrying about common names. |

His last statement was that the credited as areas was working fine suggesting that there was no need. So either we get on with it, use the functionality, deal with the bumps in the road as we come to them or we sit on the sidelines, whine, be constantly negative and have unlinked names. Personally I think the former is the better solution, and that is why I created the database to support James' thread initiative. Others seem to think the later is better... | | | Andy

| Posted: | | | | Ken also has given indication, that he is actually quite happy with the way these things are handled right now. He is not providing further standards as he apparently sees no need at this point to interfere any further. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. | Posted: | | | | If Ken is NOT going to provide standards and criteria. then we must and we have not, we are still using a dartboard. Whatever the standard is going to beit must be easily implemented by ALL users in ALL instances EVERYTIME. No standard...hmmmph, I don't care where it comes from us or ken but there HAS GOT to be a standard, I will not play in the old world of guidelines for this feature.

Skip That is what all these threads are about, and James' main thread, and the database I created... and in all of them you have just thrown in objections and issues, and nothing constructive at all. | | | Andy

| Posted: | | | | Andy supporting a user thread that has any kind of control of the database or Rules? Thump No further comment needed he says sarcastically. I could even explain this anomaly, but it isn't worth the efort to deal with the hypocrisy. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Common name means a name that is common to many different credits that may have different prefixes. Thus "as credited" is meaningless. How hard is that to understand?
It seems to be impossible to understand for two individuals in particular. Take your damn condescending attitude and stuff it. I'm not the problem, because I'm not contributing ANY of that crap like some people are. | | | John

Sorry, you're trying to take some high moral ground by not following the rules? You think we are "the problem" because we are following the rules? Specifically: Quote: Use the "As Credited" field where the person's name differs from the credited name. Seems that Ken wants "that crap"! You're going to have to accept it eventually; "credited as" is here, and there is no sign it is going anyway! | | | Andy

Seems that Ken wants "that crap"! You're going to have to accept it eventually; "credited as" is here, and there is no sign it is going anyway! That hasn't got a damn thing to do with your rotten attitude and the way you treat people who disagree with you. You're still condescending, and its offensive as hell. As far as this common name stuff goes, maybe it would be different if ALL those who contributed supplied documentation, but they don't. More often than not its nothing more than personal preference. Most of you guys have no will power at all. Just because Ken added something doesn't mean its 100% accurate and functional. I hear more complaints about how it broke somebody's links than about how its fixed things. Without proper documentation, and some sort of reasonable standard to work from, its worthless. | | | John

Quote: As far as this common name stuff goes, maybe it would be different if ALL those who contributed supplied documentation, but they don't. More often than not its nothing more than personal preference. So deal with those contributions, rather than whining about the whole thing. There are a lot of people working to make it work, providing tools and making great contributions, but you just can't see it because of your blinkered childish "I don't want it" Whaaaaa attitute. Quote: Most of you guys have no will power at all. Just because Ken added something doesn't mean its 100% accurate and functional. No it does not, but he has specifically stated that it is working well, and that he wants us to use it. Of course Ken has an overall view of all regions/localities/contributions to be able to give a complete judgement. But apparently you seem to think you know better... It's not a matter of will power, it is a matter of using a functionality that Ken has directed us to use both here in the forum and in the rules. Quote: I hear more complaints about how it broke somebody's links than about how its fixed things. Without proper documentation, and some sort of reasonable standard to work from, its worthless. I disagree, but if you think that then work with the community to come up with some standards, rather than whining in every thread on the subject about how you are not going to use the functionality. Be part of the solution rather then overstating the problems constantly with zero helpful. | | | Andy

Your comments AND your attitude are completely unnecessary and insulting, and are intende only to further inflame the discussion. Kindly disappear again. Or cut the crap.
