| Posted: | | | | You have the right to vote to you do NOT have the right to impose your will upon another user expecting them to set data up in a format of YOUR particular desire, data that is correct AS CREDITED.
You may request, you may not demand.
Once again this not about me, this about certain users ABUSING their voting privileges and attempting to impose their will on another user. I have made an offer as to what would have been a more appropriate method of doing this, Lopek. But as long as you and anyone else try and place demands upon me I will ignore you. You are not known for being particularly polite, in fact you usually rather boorish. So do what you want.the data IS Correct AS CREDITED and that cannot be argued.

The issue is that others of use spend a lot of time on it as well. We don't brag about it at every turn however.
There is also the fact that to some 2 hours a week is more of a sacrifice that 20 hours a week to others who have nothing else to do. Some here have very little free time. A couple of hours may be 50% of their free time for the week. That is a huge sacrifice. If someone is retired and wants to spend their free time doing profiles...great! but it doesn't mean their work should count more that someone who has to really work to squeeze a couple of hours in to update a few things. FWIW I have always been grateful to anyone who is willing to contribute profiles, create add ons (and soon to be plug ins), custom skins, automated scripts, etc, etc, or simply offering assistance to a newbie when they ask "how do I upload my collection". There are a lot of people here who help turn the already great program into something fantastic. The Online Db is just one part of it. It takes the entire community to make it work. We can live without any one person (except you Ken of course ) |

Not imposing my will. Just suggesting that you use the new program functionality that is available so as not to break the name linking. Entirely up to you if you do or you don't. Quote: You may request, you may not demand. Both mine and James' NO votes said "Please use 'credited as'" - that is request in the English language that I know and use. If it is a demand to you then I can't really say anything. The accuracy and usability of the database be damned? As long as your ego is not bruised eh? Quote: You are not known for being particularly polite, in fact you usually rather boorish. Can you back up that statement, do you evidence of how I am "known"? Did I miss a poll somewhere? Quote: So do what you want. I will and I do... as I would hope every user does. You are missing the point entirely. And I agree with what you are saying, BTW. The point is that we have two users who are, in my book, abusing their voting privilege in an attempt to place additional demads of time spent on another user so that THEY can get the data formatted as they want it to be. That way they don't have to go back later and modify it themselves. They don't have the right to make that demand, and that is what constitutes abuse of their voting. I have the right to say I will not go beyond this point and spend the extra time.
I have suggested a method whereby they might achieve their desired goal and as yet yhey have not chosen to consider it. So as far as I am concerned it is up to them.
Am I angry, you bet, Rick. I think I have every right to be. The only reason I mentioned the time at all is to illustrate that I spend enough time, more than enough to put up with someone demanding MORE. If they want to stand their ground, then let THEM invest THEIR time making whatever change they feel is needed.

There was no common name linking that I saw. The data was simpy INCORRECT, someone had decided that it John Hughes, I did not see John Hughes (Credited as) Edmond Dante. If I had I would not have made the change. There was no apparent linking used.

| Posted: | | | | I just looked at it again, Andrew. There is nothing there to indicate any linking was ever used on this title, simply INCORRECT data. If I am missing something then I will fix that, but there is no evidence I can see of linking.

| Posted: | | | | That's fine Skip. But James advised you of the problem that you were causing common name linking in a polite way. The issue for me is that instead of taking the info graciously and making the change/withdrawing your contribution, or discussing it with James privately, you decided to throw a public tantrum at James. Like I have said too many time recently, get over yourself old man. | | | Andy

Come on Skip, we know you like to ignore the difficult ones, but have at it, do. Or am I being demanding? Is your time better spent making a few thousand submissions? I have explained this nadj. From my point of view they are abusing their vote in an attempt to force me to spend more time in researching the link, they did not make a request. I will deal with bad data and I will deal with requests, i will not deal with flat out demands, they don't have that right. And again I have offered them a way out. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Yeah I know But there is aprinciple here that I think is fairly significant, and that is that users do not have the right to behave in this manner. Let THEM do the work...or learn how to ask. Like I have said too many time recently, get over yourself old man. James made no indication about breaking linking, he wanted ME to establish the linking. There is NO EVIDENCE of linking on this title, Andrew. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here
