| Posted: | | | | Quoting Taro: Quote: I still believe that the forum would benefit not only from having the rules clearly posted, but also moderation policy (e.g.: every user first gets two warnings, after that a 1 day ban and so on). I've noticed that forums who post both tend to have less animosity and no posts second-guessing moderation, since both the rules and the way they are enforced are posted clearly for all to see. This is just a friendly suggestion, nothing more. Here's an example I found today elsewhere of what I consider to be good moderation. While I see people banned at this site from time to time, it's very rare to see established users banned. And some of the threads we have around here would never have been tolerated over there. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. So I'm starting with a clean slate and I promise that I will abide not only strictly to the rules but will also exercise restraint and not add fuel to fire (something I wasn't always able to do in the past, for which I'm sorry). I may differ from opinion with other members but will always do so in a respectful way, without adding insults or denigrating remarks. Of course, I will not post any racist remarks as well. Moderators can hold me to that. However, I will add that I expect the same form of respect from all other users. If this is not the case, I will not retaliate but will notify the moderators and expect them to act swiftly and decisively.
I believe this is a fair way to start over again with everyone here. My pleasure, Taro, very much so. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

When you call people out by name (Taro) and then state that you have dealt with the problem privately in a public statement, it is no longer private, it's public.
I'm saddened by the lack of logic here. A prime example of exactly the lack of communication I am referring to. Clif, I presume you aren't calling me a liar, though it certainly sounds like it. I would never call you or anyone else a liar. I know you are not a liar. I might say something said or written was a lie, but this isn't even what I'm doing here. I say you called out someone by name, and in the same post you say you handled it privately. Which is both contradictory and illogical. And I admire how you both have aimed at a resolution to your conflict. My admiration for you (and many others here) is great. If I criticize, it is because I care enough to imagine we can all be better. I'll try starting with me. Let me know if I let any of you down. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Cliff no harm done. Just for the record you did fine with initial post, which I answered, and that answer was sincere and honest, please don't try and read more than is there. It may not be the answer you would have given or the one you wanted to hear (read), but it was the answer and there was no malice aimed at Taro, he was simply an example nothing more or nothing less. I welcome Taro back with great pleasure. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | Kathy, thanks for your post. You will get a green one later on.
The only reason I stay here is for the help I recieved from a few people here and the lolcats. Other then that I try to stay out of things. I've been looking for other places, but really found none that would beat DVDPro (the product).
Now signing off because I feel a massive migraine coming up. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | Sure it did start. Don't tell me you haven't seen how we can now have a discussion on a simple subject who doesn't continue on multiple pages where an user call us ignorant because we haven't wrote the "guidelines" in 1933? It sure shows the moderation trial not only start but is a huge success |

| Posted: | | | | No, I will say that 6 out of the last 7 months have been pretty sweet (or is it 4 out of 5? I don't know. There was a back-to-back vacation that made the forums quite nice. I'll give credit where credit is due ). However, until the forum gets more moderators outside of Ken and Gerri, there will still be trolling posts making the attitude decline again because Ken and Gerri can't get to them all. I would assume most of their time is spent on development and contributions. If there are more moderators than Ken and Gerri than, wow, you guys need different moderators. Or at least moderators that visit the forum more than once every few weeks. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

If I remember rightly the screeners and moderators are one in the same, so I believe the more screening that needs done the less moderation gets done. |
