| Posted: | | | | Well I am in favor of having one filed for a season box set and divide the cast and crew just seems to become so large when we enter child disc for for every disc. Now with entire series like Mash: Martinis & Medicine Collection that would have to be broken up by season I would imagine. Just giving my in put |

Just giving my in put But even if the studio is gracious enough to put a season box in there with a UPC, you still have to dump ALL the cast, and ALL the crew from every episode in that season into one profile. Whatever advantage you may have from dividers in those lists is shot to hell and gone by the sheer volume of entries. You may think you don't like the idea of a child profile for each disc in the complete set (could be as many of 40 in some cases), but you'll quickly find that handling a profile with a smaller chunk of data in it is a lot faster and easier. You're talking about roughly the same amount of storage space, but the data is broken up into much more manageable chunks. | | | John

I am actually glad he didn't include those changes. They are so outdated that it would have been a huge step backwards. People were already used to the current rules so it was a good idea to let them continue with them. As Ken said in another post, we can address any concerns and revise the rules as issues are identified. I must have missed this one first time around. How can you say the rules we did for 2.6 are a step backward? They were definitively more up-to-date than the rules for 2.4 by any measure. So maybe some of the stuff we expected didn't get into 3.0. So what? That still doesn't mean the entire effort was a waste. In fact, many of the things we came up with in the way of fixes, we are STILL arguing about in 3.0. because some people just can't accept compromises. The whole question of boxsets could be dealt with in one afternoon except for certain people who refuse to see that whether its TV or movie is immaterial. But you all go right on ahead. You're doin' a REAL swell job! | | | John

The word "Series" is also used (especially in the UK and elsewhere) to mean what we know as a Season in the U.S. Hal's right! I wrote that line when we were doing the rules, my bad!! What can I say, I'm British so it makes sense to me, and I was not aware that this one more area where you are butchered our language!* *Note to Rifter: This is a joke, not an attack on the USA. | | | Andy

Quote: Apparently the fact that the Rules specifically define that boxset rules are only to be used for multi-year TV Sets, is irrelevant to you (and a few others).
Why would the box set area say on the credits "For additional information on handling of TV Series type releases see the TV series section." if we shouldnt add them? The rules say nothing about multi-year TV sets, at least i couldnt find any such info. Other then the credits part the rules say nothing about TV series in the Box Set section. This has been quoted many times here, but here it is again. From the Rules under TV Series: "Note: In rare cases where multiple Complete TV Series are packaged together, the Box-set rules can be applied, treating each series like a single film - applying the above rules for it’s individual profile" If the TV Series does not meet this "Rare" condition (not all that rare anymore, admittedly) where all Seasons have been bundled into a "COMPLETE SERIES" (in other words it is the entire show from beginning to end) then it should NOT be set up as a boxset, including boxset contents. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

Skip I was responding to Rifter, in case you missed it. There was nothing directed at you in anyway, yet you came in calling me a NOBODY? You're just weird! | | | Andy
