I understand what you say, but rules do not speak of "STUDIO DATE OF RELEASE", but only "RELEASE FOR SALE", which is much more general. | | | Images from movies |

There is no exception in rules. I understand what you say, but rules do not speak of "STUDIO DATE OF RELEASE", but only "RELEASE FOR SALE", which is much more general. When something was put into the store to sell whitout the consent of the party which made the product then said product (regardless what it is) was not released for sale, even if you would be able to buy it prior to the official date of release somewhere. And the "release for sale" from the rules would still fit that part properly. So it makes no sense to argue about that, even with the rules in mind. |

How can you prove that a specific store had not a specific authorisation given by the party which made the product ? I prefer just apply the rules as they are written. Once again we have here people who generally explain to other users that rules must not be interpreted, and who forget this for themselves... This is really tiring. I think I've explained my position as clearly as the rules are written (which is rarely the case for the rules...). Everybody, as usual, will do what he wants, and we'll still have a huge mess in the online database. End of the discussion for me... | | | Images from movies |

If you ignore them, as you should, they leave with their tail between their legs because they don't get the attention they so crave. Common knowledge here... | | | The night is calling. Use the date when the DVD was first released for sale in its specific locality. Do not change the DVD Release Date if a release: Goes out of print and then is subsequently re-released using the same UPC.Is recalled due to a production error and is subsequently re-released in a corrected versionThe DVD Release Date is always the date of Original Release.
The last sentence refers to the date of original release and that's up to the distributor and not up to a store. |

The last sentence refers to the date of original release and that's up to the distributor and not up to a store. to me the last sentence is meant to reiterate the first sentence and not to use the release dates for - Goes out of print and then is subsequently re-released using the same UPC. Is recalled due to a production error and is subsequently re-released in a corrected version. The original release date is the date when the DVD was first released for sale in its specific locality. Talking with my local video store Manager, he informed me that there have been plenty of films that were set for release on a Tuesday but got released early on Friday per the distribution company. So instead of Tuesday being the release date it is the previous Friday. (Sons of Anarchy: The Final Season was one of them). | | | Last edited: by ateo357 |

| Posted: | | | | We put the official release date into the database and not the one from shops that often sell it some days earlier, what is often the case. | | | * 3D TV Panasonic TX-P65VT30J + Blu-ray Player Panasonic DMP-BDT500 My Filmcollection online: www.filmkino.ch * |

Take Black Mass. I received Black Mass on Feb 4, 2016. Amazon and blu-ray.com still list the release as Feb 16, 2016.
The only evidence that I have of a 2/4 release, is a personal experience of when I received it, but no onlibne proof of it. When somebody does research on it, they will only see proof of the 2.16 release.
The official release is 2.16, but what proof can I offer of earlier?

Submission of disc ID. But I agree with others that only "official" dates count. I remember buying online from Axel Music, Swedisc and others back in the day could sometimes send out the disc a month before the street date. They claimed this was to compensate for slow postal deliveries... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
