The guy has over 4,000 DVDs in his collection. He ain't exactly broke.

Lucky he is.
If I would buy the missing 3,000 to get up to 4,000 in one go I'd most definitely be broke. And I'd need a new house and probably a new wife as well.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Since you have so far refused to take the advice to rebuild your apparently corrupt systems, I've run out of ideas.

If I understood it correctly he can't. At least not without investing into new software (OS) first.
He's having an ACER machine which by default comes without Recovery-DVDs. The user has to do this at first startup.

"Can't"?

Posting in the forums costs Invelos real money and the rest of us, time and attention. If ever there was a case for having a backup for your OS platform, this is it. The least he could do is repay us by taking some good advice - and yes it will cost some money. The guy has over 4,000 DVDs in his collection. He ain't exactly broke.

Using a recovery-dvd was one of the first things I thought of, but I knew that wasn't possible since the one I had made was damaged. So I turned to this forum for advise.

And besides that one thing I've done everything that was suggested.

I ain't broke, but ain't rich either!   I've an average Dutch income.
You don't need that much money to build such a collection. Sometimes it's a matter of choices. For example, I don't own a car and I seldom go on vacation. That's money I can spend on comics, dvd's and books!

That may be true, but they were suggestions we made in desperation. With that, I am signing off. 10-4, over and out!

Interestingly enough, this problem sounds like the crash I ran into (and still don't have a solution for) in this thread:
