And there are plenty of others. Heck, you now have movies finally getting proper 16x9 transfers when the DVD version either has letterboxed widescreen (Armageddon) or Full Frame only (Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men).

for me the difference in picture quality isn't that big

That entirely depends on whether a new transfer was done for the Blu-ray release and how much care went into that. Here's an example where the difference is really striking.

You might want to check the reviews here, many of which contain screen caps that will show you how significant the difference is.

OK, that was a HUGE difference, when I received my player it included a BD "Batman Begins". Since I already owned it on DVD I watched them in parallel mode (BD-player/DVD player) and decided the difference wasn't big enough for replacing - I will keep the site you mentioned and think again.

I would recommend focusing on the DVDs in your collection with crappy transfers and checking whether there's a Blu-ray release that has a much better transfer. But I do understand where you're coming from - there's plenty in my own collection that I don't feel are worth upgrading to Blu-ray. Although in my case sound is a factor as well.

I'm replacing specific DVD's (i.e., my favorites) because BluRau PQ is virtually always significantly better and the sound is much better as well.  New titles are always bought in BluRay.

yeah same here

I would only upgrade if the DVD is full-screen/non-anamorphic or the BD has a better version (Directors Cut) than the DVD, for me the difference in picture quality isn't that big and since I only have two speakers and mostly use headphones anyway the sound is not so important.

I'm just curious what size\kind of TV your watching these one that you don't see much of a difference
