I can only go by this thread and the sources provided... but IMO it should be changed back... as there is sources that this person just moved her original last name to her middle name instead of making it a double last name. That is a more common thing then people seem to think... at least here in the US.

Sure Skip isn't "in charge" but the sources that have been uncovered should be.

That is my take on it at least.

Is she already in the db under both parsings?
If so, let's fix it, if not, leave it alone and start linking those pesky sound guys!

Wow, it seems, i'm the bad guy in this thread.

You're hardly a bad guy by trying to make submissions on what seems to be a very divided subject.  I'm going to not vote until we see an authoritive word from Ken on the name.

We're unlikely to get an official statement on the matter. While it would solve problems, Ken generally leaves things like this to the Community to decide amongst ourselves.

As Invelos have previously accepted as 1//2 3 I probably wouldn't change it without further evidence to the contrary.

This makes the most sense.

As has beendemomnstrated Alien, there is plenty of evidence as to how the name should be parsed, including the Wiki article. I sent Micky a opoplite PM explaining this and he responded very politely which is more than I can say for many users here.. Micky made the common mistakes of applying Euro rules to the name, but in the States there are NO such Rules , the name is up to the individual and we have plenty of evidence that indicates the answer. Of course, Ms. Wagner is the only reliable source.

And we haven't heard from her, have we? Seriously: I fail to see the "plenty of evidence" you keep referring to. In any case, given the current poll results, which are actually in favour of Natasha//Gregson Wagner (17-16), I'd say it's a bit hasty to start sending out PM's saying: "The data does have to be correctd and someone will do it, it would look better if you did it yourself.    Those seventeen votes for Natasha//Gregson Wagner apparently mean nothing to you?

I wonder if the New York Times has a procedure that helps them determine how they should parse a name.

I further wonder if any such procedure could be adapted to DVD Profiler ...

(perhaps they have an internal forum where they all shout at each other about it)

Here is the PM from Skip:

I hope you will correct your error(s) on this name. A thread has been started relative to this actress and you missed some critical information in your Wiki reference, plus there are other references to on the net to her as Ms. Wagner or Wagner, NOT as Gregson Wagner or Ms. Gregson Wagner. The data does have to be correctd and someone will do it, it would look better if you did it yourself.

So, what shall i do? Ignore ? I am caught between two stools.

Since Skip is just another user like you or I, and thereby is no more and no less of an authority than any other user, you can do what you want. The issue is not cut and dry and is not settled. See the two links posted by Ace-of_Sevens for an example of where she's referred to as Ms. Gregson Wagner.

So, until Ken or Gerri makes an official ruling, I'd suggest just doing what you think is best.

Now, my personal feelings on the matter is that Skip's preference is the correct one. I tend to think of situations like this as Wagner being the last name and Gregson a middle name. But that's just how I feel about it, and it has no bearing on what is "correct." I tend to think we'll never find out what is truly correct, and as such the best we can hope for is a ruling by Ken or Gerri.
