All of this goes back to the the post about adding Iran.  While I do understand the OP point of view, I also agree that adding a country because it has 4 films out of 400,000 is ridiculous.
[...]
As soon as certain countries produce enough movies as to warrant a slot on the country list they'll get one.

Is 1,623 enough?

Now that we are at it, I also would like an option to show "USA" and "UK" in the program, instead of the long name.

I'm absolutely not interested in non contributable genres, crew roles etc.

If I have to enter the data myself, I will use a database program and not DVD Profiler.

I am not interested either in non contributable stuff.
Or, if I can add something, non contributable fields should be left for data that are difficult to standardize, not to the (usually) hard facts like CoO.

Sure, but all of those are not in the Profiler Database.

How many of those are legally available on DVD. So, far we haven't heard about more than a handful.

Sure, but all of those are not in the Profiler Database.

But they could be release one day. This is not because a film isn't on dvd that it will never be. The number here is a good way to see that the country had a viable cinema industry. If you don't see this it's because you have decided to argumenting for the fun of it.

I'm not sure who "we" is, but I've heard of more than 4. The quantity of 4 came from a user who owns 4. That's not the number of supposed Iranian DVDs in circulation.

Here's an e-tailer, IranianMovies.com, which lists 3,000 DVDs and CDs. Not sure how many are DVDs, but it's more than 4.

Even if it were only 4, it is still a perfectly valid request that should be implemented.

No one ever said it wasn't a valid request, hal. Expressing their opinions of it is another matter, but no one said it wasn't valid. I still don't like it for such a small number of films and users.

James:

Pleas take note that I specifically said LEGAL. Some e-tailer is no guarantee of legality anywhere, even here in the states, there are tons of titles which are available through "dealers here in the states but are not legally allowed to be sold.

I know what you said; however, you have expressed no information as to whether IranianMovies.com is selling illegal titles or not, and you have offered no proof that there aren't more than 4 Iranian movies available on DVD. I'm sure there are illegal titles sold in every country that produces DVDs, but what does that matter if they do produce legal DVDs?

Four titles out of almost 400,000, wow. That is definitely worth it. You are also perhaps the only user, or at best one of a handful. Use Other FH.

I didn't say that it was invalid. Hal. i was poking fun at the small amount of tit;les and users, obviously that is beyond your comprehension. You really like to try and turn everything into an argument. Sheeesh.

Sometimes, Hal, i really do wonder.

Let me pu it this way, james. I wouldn't buy from them without a lot of research to assure myself that i wasn't buying bootlegged product. Is that clear enough. As it stands right now, I don't trust them. I would feel the same way about most any site hawking DVDs no matter what country it is from, there a set of sellers whom I trust for data and for purchase and that does not include anybody on E-Bay. Just because they are an e-tailer does not automatically make them trustable. ff you buy from them and have assureed yourself that what they have is legal then fine, but if you just buy from them because then the risk is all yours and you are welcome to it.

I am very cautious.

The issue of whether e-tailers are legitimate doesn't correlate to whether a country should be represented as a country of origin in DVD Profiler. The fact that the films are produced in a country and put on DVD is what matters. It's inconsequential if some of those films also are put on illegal DVD since that can happen in any country. There's simply no relationship between the two issues.
