A meta-comment was anything about the discussion itself, or about any other appender, or ... you get the idea, I think. It really did work, keeping the discussion pretty much on track. Don't hold your breath. As you were told in another thread, this is just how these forums work. They were like this when I joined, some 8+ years ago, and they will probably be like this long after I am gone.
I know you don't like it, but it works for us...you either adapt or you go extinct.
Yes, I know how the forums presently work. My proposal was to make a change to that. And that could be made to work. All it would take is for Ken Cole to appoint a deputy and invest him with the power to suspend a user's privileges. Of course, the right sort of person should be appointed deputy, meaning none of the bully crowd.

I've gotten enough supportive PMs to know that there really are reasonable people out there. Give it up, you are only shooting yourself in foot with every post and affecting the ability of many of the community to take you seriously. I am glad to you get PMs, you are also getting hammered publicly...not just by me. This is profiler, i will say this one more time, it is not for you who have been here since (yesterday paranthetically) to come here and try and mold Profiler to your image, that will NOT happen. It is for YOU to adapt to Profiler, you can stay if you please, I'll not tell you no, nor will I eben play the chhildish game you have adopted through the rep system of trying to control speech. You are arrogant beyoind belief, like no user I have seen in my over eight years here, but i will tell you in all honestly as long as you persist in your arrogance, you may stay but i doubt seriously it will be very pleasant for you. Several oif us, myself included have offered you suhggestions which you choose to ignore, you believe that you are I don't know what, you got off on the wrong foot and are not intrerested in changing that...SO BE IT! I leave you to your fate. The only person I see trying to bully or push his way around here is ...YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I would certainly be totally opposed tor your unstated suggestion that you be appointed Deputy, NO WAY IN...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a bad idea on the face of it, but since this forum doesn't have any moderators* it would be very hard to enforce. Although I do like the idea behind trying to make sure a request thread remains focused on the request at hand and doesn't deviate from the topic at hand. Not sure how one would go about that, short of creating moderators which Ken is apparently against - hence the self-moderating system of red and green arrows. * Well, there's Ken and Geri but their participation here is on the rare side. KM edit: Err. I guess I should've read the entire thread before responding. Now I see everything I said in this post was already covered by others. Ah...I didn't see it that way, though it does make sense now. It would be a pitty if that is what he has chosen to do. I have really hesitated for a long time before blocking two users (note that Skip is not concerned). But when people are deliberately agressive, and never offer anything intelligent except attacks or insults, I think it is better to block them than see their crap and feel obliged to answer. After several weeks of testing the blocking system, I find it rather good, far more than the reputation system which is an useless gadget. | | | | Images from movies |
