Pete,

As you can see from the outpouring of sympathy and support, we are all behind you and your mom (and the rest of your family) 110%.  Keep us posted if you're able to.  Take care.
My deepest sympathies to you also. I lost my Mom last Fall. I had to watch her pass away. It hurts every day. But that doesn't make your pain any less - I'm just saying that I understand and will pray for you. Believe it or not, it was (and is) my focus on this Forum that helped (and is still helping) me cope.
Thanks for your support.

Best wishes to you Pete, and I hear you loud and clear.  My mom has had a recurrence of her colon cancer so for the last 6 weeks she's been living with me as she recovers from surgery and gets to a state where she can start chemo.  We're in this together.  Important to keep contact with the outside world, though.  It helps that my mom is a movie fan so she's having a good time working her way through my collection.

Thank you both... it is much appreciated.
Yeah... I have lots that my mom will like to watch as well... we started a movie serial yesterday... but taking a break from it today. Now if I could only get her interested in my horror movies we would be set!

Sorry to hear your bad news Pete, but we'll be praying for you.  It's nice to hear that you've found such a fun way to spend some time with your mom.

Normally I leave these type of personal threads alone, but Addicted2DVD, you seem to be a wonderful person, and you have undoubtedly given a lot to the community, so for you, I make an exception.  I am sorry to hear about your mother.  I hope that, however things turn out, you make her feel appreciated (it seems from your posts that this is what you're doing) and make the most of your time together.  Regardless of the competition, family is always most important, and I'm glad you see that, as many people can't.

My thoughts are with you and your family.

Took my mother to her doctor first thing this morning. they did some lab work and discovered her blood was really low... as was her iron. So they admitted her to the hospital for... as they put it.... a few days. While they do a blood transfusion (which I was expecting) as well as some tests to see why she is so anemic all the time. She has been staying anemic for a while now.

Thank You all once again for your concern. We just got back from getting some test results... so here is the latest developments...

It is not the best news in the world... but it could have been a lot worse. At the beginning of the cancer return scare they saw 4 spots in my mother's chest that looked suspicious. Now I am glad to say they ruled 3 of the 4 spots are actually radiation scarring... but the one other is growing so is an active spot. At this point they are going with the idea that the cancer is back... but they can not confirm this until she has the biopsy. Which at this point they are still deciding the best method... whether they want to do the biopsy by going down her throat... or if they want to do it with a needle.

This one active spot is slowly progressing... so they feel like it isn't something they need to rush into... though they do want to get it done. At this point they are thinking if it is indeed cancerous they can get rid of it with a weaker form of chemo then she had to have the first time because it is progressing so slowly.

Right now they seem more concerned with finding out why she keeps becoming anemic. That seems to be a more pressing concern at the moment. They did say she is iron deficient... so that is part of it at least. We will know more in a couple days when we go back to the chemo doctor to check her levels.
