Users casting their vote after you did can read and evaluate it. As there's no timestamps assigned to the votes and since "No" votes are always listed first in the "Show votes" section,

If I was the last one to vote and found the mistake in the contribution then nobody would see my comment and verify my what I had found. Do you go back and check your vote, I don't.

If voters would double check the contribution then they would have found the mistake. Any body could type the words Source disk. Do we really know it came from the disk or did it come from a third party.

If I make a mistake in my vote, I would hope some one would point it out to me. Then I could verify the mistake and make make a change or even leave it the same.

This is a user built data base and it is up to all of us to make that happen even if means contacting other voters to let them know what you have found.

Other way would be to let the form know in a post.

Like I said, you certainly CAN address voters on their votes, but IMO shouldn't do it.

It's just a practical to make use of the system.

But starting a thread after your attempts at calling others to attention obviously did not have the desired effect is taking this thing too far IMO.

As is evident from the short discussion with Skip and you, there#s different POVs on this matter, and the three of us simply do not share one of them.

No problem there.

Hey darxon, while I understand we have to agree to disagree. I find users who adopt the privacy attitude to be petty and arrogant quite frankly. I want to be advised of ANY mistake I might make, if I disagree with the user we can discuss it, if i have made a mistake I will fix it. I think we would all be better off if more users would stop trying to hide behind some self-imposed cloak of secrecy and worked together, building this database is a collaborative effort and personally if someone does not want to be part of the team, then get off. But that is my opinion.

It seems that you are sitting in judgement of other users, calling them petty and arrogant, simply because they don't behave in a way you deem appropriate.  I find this quite confusing as you just, in another thread, made the following statement:

"I am also quite amused at those who so easily sit in judgement of another, and it all usually revolves around I want you to behave the way I deem appropriate."

On the surface, those seem like contradictory statements.

I think you will find quite a few users that share your POV.  And you are correct, there is not problem with that.  The problems start when some users don't respect the wishes of other users.

Hmmm, now that i think about it Unicus, that attitude does match up quite nicely with many ofyour other behaviors, constant parsing of each and every word, judging others with no basis in reality. It all fits together. Not being a shrink I don't knowif it is significant but it does all fit.

Not my favorite game,m Unicus, but I am just as capable of belittlling as you are. In short conside this a request.

However the credits read, that's how they should be entered into Profiler.  If the onscreen credit combines the roles (your first example) then by all means show it that way in the profile.  But if there are two separated credits in the onscreen cast list, show it as two - since we can now do that in Profiler.

Skip, I'm not "adopting a privacy attitude" and I don't regard myself as petty or arrogant. If I were as thin skinned as you are in these days, a post like that surely would've erupted another one of the numerous and infamous posts several members of the community (it's not just you, I acknowledge that) have become (in)famous for in the past months.

I personally don't mind being contacted about my votes, however, there are several users of the community who do not wish for this to happen.

That's one point to be considered, if you're contacting someone about their vote and are not the contributor, you're invading privacy on grounds not qualified to do so.

And secondly:

While I personally don't mind being contacted on my votes, I strongly resent being called upon it in the forum afterwards if I don't change my vote (thank God in this thread at least the naming of those casting the supposedly wrong votes has not occurred), After all, it's MY vote, it's MY decision how I cast it and it's not ANYBODY's business except Ken and / or Gerri to pass judgement on it by accepting or declining the contribution, thus passing judgment on my vote as well.

If this attitude qualifies as petty and arrogant in your book, well then I am arrogant and petty, and proud of it.

The threadstarter obviously was not satisfied with the results of his contacting other users, so he brought the subject here. Something that in my book is inappropriate to say the least (to use a term currently "en vogue" in our forums: it might even be considered bullying).

Edit: After some with some friends, I decided that it just wasn't worth it.

I started the thread first if you must know. Then it was suggested to contact the votes in a pm to let them know of the violation. I opened this thread to see what others thought of first. So before you make a statement like you did make sure you have all of the facts.

Then I'm sorry for mixing up the chronology of events and the conclusions about your behavior I drew from that.

Nevertheless, I still stand by what I said regarding contacting users about their votes if you're not the original contributor.

I think that was my fault. When I said users I meant the contributors as I thought you were talking about multiple contributions.

Contacting somebody about a vote when you are not the contributor of the profile update is very bad style and not polite. The contributor on the other side may have a good reason to clarify his point of view or ask for clarification on the voting comment.
