Since their "credited as" name is different than their actual name, we should enter a "common name" for them. The "common name" does NOT come from the actual film credits. It is the name that we agree is to be used for this particular person(s). When these guys collaborate on a film, they most frequently are credited as the "The Coen Brothers", so that is what I would use as the "common name".
No where in the Rules does it say you can take a single credit that refers to more than one person and break it into individual credits! And where do you get the common name as "The Coen Brothers"? Where exactly have they ever used that particular moniker in their films? I fail to see that if they're somehow referred to that in a review or tagline that that should be their common name. Hmm, even the credit lookup tool comes up with ZERO, even without "The" | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

| Posted: | | | | I find the case here rather simple :
Rules say "list names exactly as they are in the credits."
I read in this forum that people who do not want to apply strictly this rule "think they know better than those who made the film"
I read in this forum that everybody who doesn't apply strictly the rules must keep it on his local database and do not contribute.
I also read that people who say that in certain cases rules should not be strictly followed are always "whining" and "complaining".
If everybody agrees with all that, only one solution : no contribution. | | | Images from movies |

If I remember well, the poll was about adding an indication when there is a mispelling on the cover. I was not the author of this proposition, and I also voted against it, for I think typos must be corrected without any indication. I don't remember any other poll on the subject, so I really do not feel buried by anything... Anyway, I'm not sure that a poll here have any signification when about 50 people vote among several thousands dvdprofiler users... That is why I generally do not use polls | | | Images from movies |
