You are dead wrong.  The primary objective is that the cover be the correct cover.  When and if that is established, THEN you can determine whether or not it is good enough to use.

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it.  Fortunately for me...and everybody else in the forum...all opinions are equal and your opinion is no more or less important than any other opinion.

I can see both sides of this issue. I started out voting no because I did not care for the blurred images. After reading the discussion in the forum I changed my vote to yes because I do believe that the new cover is the one that should be in the data base. I finally decided that I am going to vote neutral until someone can take the correct covers and make them sharp and clear. Is anyone up to the challenge?!

Now I agree that it is important to get the original version back into the database... but not at a loss of quality... so by the way I read the rules... the quality must be at least as good as what is up there now."

First and formost the scan should be the original release and if you feel that the original release is not sharp enough then try making your own. If you like the re-realese then lock it but the rules are clear stop trying to twist it by saying they should be sharper that takes effect when comparing the "exact" cover which this is not. Tom

I guess we will have to agree to disagree and wait until they are accepted or declined.

Maybe we can start a new trend...3 pages then we all agree to disagree.

For those that might be interested, the scans were declined this morning.

Although I had difficulty in deciding how to vote, it is the inconsistency in the process that troubles me.

Masters of Horrors cover scans were blurry, yet correct, and were accepted; From Dusk Til Dawn cover scans were blurry, yet correct, and were declined.

How does one get accepted yet another get declined? This does not seem logical or fair to me.

Yep, denied again.
I was messing with my scanner and think I found the key to the blacks, but can't tell what's going to be sharp enough. I'll keep my scans local unless there's something insanely small, watermarked, or rare I can submit.

I also submitted scans for Heavy Metal 2000. The existing are small, speckled, scuffed and obviously in the keepcase. I had 5 votes yeah then one no saying mine were soft and dirty. Soft? Probably as I learned from Dusk and Escape From LA (everyone hates my scans), but dirty? Please.
With those getting denied as well I feel nothing is good enough or will satisfy, so I'll submit one time just cuz it's only one more click if I'm putting them in my local, but no more with this or any popular title. I tried 3 times to get the proper scans on this and see the majority and the powers prefer the sharper wrong ones.

Someone else has to have the first cover and a scanner, hook this profile up.

I don't know what the differences in the Masters of Horrors covers were but, as I said earlier, in this case there were very minor changes between the original release scans and the rerelease scans.  If you didn't know what you were looking for, you probably wouldn't have known that they were different.  I will be honest and say I had to go back and compare the two to figure it out.

That might be why, but I am only guessing.

To me, the DVD logo on the front bottom right sticks out like a sore thumb on the re-release. That said, I have the re-release myself so I cannot scan these.

Exactly right.  I'd rather have a crummy picture that is the right one, than a crystal clear super sharp one that is wrong.  At least if you have the right picture in the database, somebody will be able to submit a better version.

What kind of scanner do you have, and what software package does it use?

Canon pixma mp530 is the scanner, pretty sure MP Navigator 2.2 is the software.
Definitly not top of the line, in fact it's a better printer than scanner, although the scans look nice on my monitor.

But if you submit an image that is bigger than 500x700 or more than 200k it will be down-sized. The down-sizing will make it fuzzy. You need to resize to 500x700 (or smaller) and then run a 'sharp' filter before you add it to DVDProfiler and then submit it.
