Face it Martin, your favorite format would never have the slightest chance in a vote.

Sure, that's why it became second in the other poll.

Have you seen some recent cast&crew updates ? Even with the "1. Episode Name" format many episode titles don't fit into the divider. Your suggestion would be a disastrous waste of space and I'm sure, nearly everybody sees it the same way.

Many others have not taken the time to divide TV-Series Cast Lists.

I have done some updates myself and I found out that if you have cast members that participate in all or only a few episodes, it looks better if you create a cast list with "Episode" in front of the number. And this because you can credit each person only once in a single profile.

For example:

Episode 1 - 10
Paul de Leeuw as Jan Klaasen
Sonja Barend as Katrijn
...

Episode 4 & 6
Egbert Jan Weeber as Politie Agent

Episode 1: Jan Klaasen gaat verhuizen
Huub Stapel as Verhuizer
...

Besides that, dividers labeled the way you are doing it are not permissible online.  The format style has already been decided.

It has already been decided...? I though this is the voting thread where we will decide it with...?

Yeah.  '1. Episode name'  It's that way in the Overview on the parent, in the Overview on the child, and we already had a discussion about doing it that way on dividers.  Consistency, right?

No, John we hadn't. Otherwise, members of the rules committee wouldn't have suggested a different format and we wouldn't need this poll.

I think this is a terrible format.  First it would take forever to sort out where people had appeared, and you'd have multiple entries per Episode:

Episode 4 & 10
XXX

Episode 6 & 8
YYY

Episode 3-13
ZZZ

Episode 8
WWW
RRR
GGG
TTT

What a mess.  And when we get to episode level profiling, it would take for ever to figure out who went in which episodes.

Putting all cast/crew under their individual episode divider will make copying to episode level profiles a snap! (if we ever get that)

I prefer 1. Episode name. There's no real need to add zeros or extra spaces. There isn't enough room as it is so we shouldn't be wasting the space.
The only exceptions would be where there is no episode name in which case "Episode One" etc would probably be preferable (again there would be no point using "1. Episode One")

I prefer 'Episode Name' with no number.

The numbers are already listed in the Overview, so putting them here is redundant, AND it is using up characters in a limited size field unnecessarily.

I have yet to see a title that wouldnt fit, but in my opinion thats a problem with the character limit. Doubt 3 extra characters would fix that. The number is already listed in the overview, but that would mean i would first have to check the name from the overview, and then find the episode. Which is just a waste of time.

Quick examples of titles that won't fit:

From Ah! My Goddess v.1:
2. Ah! Those Who Believe Shall Find Salvation!
3. Ah! Apprenticeship, Home, and the Goddess!

From Genshiken v.3:
9. Concerning Whether Explanation is Obligatory Under Special Circumstances
10. The Fetishism of Leisure Spending Taking into Account Economic Effect
11. The Position of Malice in the Phenomenon of Urban Crime
12. Problems and Countermeasures Arise When an Organization Undergoes Reconstruction

None of which would fit with a mere 3-4 extra characters.  I'd definitely rather have the episode number available than a few extra characters in the name, since I'd have to check the overview for the full name regardless.

i really hate to drag this sucker up from the dead, but was the consensus (as with the number of votes) finally reached that:

1. Episode Name

is the standard for dividers?

there's a slew of pending updates where all the dividers are:

01 - Episode Name.

I can't find this in the rules yet, but i don't want to vote something into the database that isn't correct (even though many people are).

i'm just asking for accuracy's sake, not to jumpstart a war...

thanks to anyone out there with a definitive answer.

I go strictly by what this poll shows... as it is a landslide victory... but I haven't voted no to anything else yet because it isn't in the rules yet. So I mostly been voting neutral on them all... even though it means we will probably have to go back and fix them.
